appliance repair

Featured Replies

Ban Chang area:

I have a fairly new double door fridge in which the fan does not work. It is freezing on the bottom and warm at the top in both freezer and fridge.

Anyone know of appliance repairman?

I had someone from a shop in Rayong do some necessary fixes to my Toshiba washing machine, and he volunteered to do anything on that brand.

Sorry, no idea now of his name or contact, but you might get through to him using the main website for Toshiba. Mine was a warranty thing, so that's why I went that route.

Up from 7/11 at the central crossroads in Ban Chang, past the Y junction, not far from the big clinic there is a guy, you will see all fridges etc. outside.

I am going to resurrect this old topic if you don't mind.

I have a Sharp 4 door fridge / freezer. 9 years and still working but lately the compressor is making a lot of noise and has me worried.  I want to get someone to take a look at it and determine if they can what is going on under the covers.

The new appliance dealer in Ban Chang on Suk that opened a new store just west of Tesco-Lotus near the U turn is supposed to have a good service department but is it just for the products they sell or will they work on any appliances?

Some one know anything?

Thanks

I don't know anything about the dealers you mention, but if they're not interested you might do worse than ask the shop mentioned by Lenny W. Despite their unprepossessing appearance, they did a good job on a Zanussi washing-machine that had packed up. Zanussi don't appear to be widely distributed in these parts (we brought the machine with us from UK), but they knew all about them, said many parts interchangeable with Electrolux, fitted a new control panel quite cheaply and gave a year guarantee. Also told the missis she was using the wrong soap powder. Nearly a year on, the machine's fine.

Thanks I may check them out if the appliance shop is a dud.

The TV and appliance dealer on Suk has a service department but only the brands they carry not Sharp.  They told me Numchai in Pattaya might be a good bet. I guess I will take a shot with the guy in Ban Chang that Lenny mentioned. See if he is a fridge guy or only does washers.

Update. I stopped in at the small repair shop in Ban Chang as recommended. Spoke to Thai lady and two repair men in very broken English but enough to get the point across. Called my wife and she spoke to woman. They arranged a service call to look at our fridge. By the time I got home 20 minutes later a truck showed up with two repair guys and within 15 minutes he diagnosed the fan in the compressor area was making noise and not working properly and removed it and said they will return next day with repaired fan.

So at this point clearly a win for me.

Glad it worked out. Some of these shops are very capable, despite their unpromising exterior. Another one is the tv repair place next to the TOT office. My 5+ year old telly, inexpensive model, recently developed an intermittent problem with the sound fading. As an alternative to buying a new one I decided I'd nothing to lose by taking it there. The guy couldn't find the fault at first, but he eventually did, and it's working fine again.
