If we do nothing, the Thai culture will get deteriorated.

Whoo boy. We usually hear this from the blue-haired ladies from the Department of Culture or Department of Fine Arts, or even the Department of Education. They clearly don't know what Thai culture is. It's been a long time, so I'm not sure what temple it was, but I was looking at a fine old mural inside a temple that was a popular tourist objective, and there was a sign that if you looked at the detail you could see things like kids taking a shit in some bushes and people making love. It really was like the art in the early (1954-55) Mad Comics, all kinds of unexpected stuff in the background to the main cartoons. This didn't used to be considered "deterioration of Thai culture." Heck, if people don't make love there won't be any Thai culture because there won't be any more Thais. I blame it on rich people going to study in England, where they absorb the Puritan mindset and from then on spend their nights lying awake worrying that somebody, somewhere, might be having fun.

Full disclosure: I really do dislike seeing idiot farang tourists on Soi Nana or Sukhumvit Road kissing and hugging their hired companions. When I was stationed here in the early 1970s Field Marshal Thanom's police would have arrested them for Public Display of Affection. Get a room.

100 baht short time rooms needed near these parks. Could be a good business opportunity.

Or rent out 2 person tents to the teenagers at the park entrance.

Economically infeasible, I'm afraid. The cheapest short time hotels I know are at least ฿200 for three hours. You can't charge less and pay staff minimum wage and get a return on investment. Check out Yaowarat Road. Thirty years ago there were places for fifty baht, but they were really bad. The tents might be a possibility, though.

So in the park you can't drink, you can't smoke you can't have sex....

In the temple you can at least smoke.

In the Christan ones at least you can drink

So the park is the most restricted place. Specially the no smoke no drink doesn't make any sense.

You want to smoke go stand next to the highway. I don't go to the park to breathe in your lung cancer.

Thai culture will get deteriorated

Rampant racism, Ladyboy muggers crawling everywhere, racist double pricing, "ME ME ME mentality everywhere, low consideration of inconveniencing others, biggest whorehouse on the planet, 100 years of constant unstable government, chronic littering, "Don't give a damn (Mai pen rai)" attitude to everything from education to repairing a fuse-box, chronic undisciplined rule ignoring, scamming lying bar-girls filling internet cafes till 6 a.m in the morning, brainwashed population who thinks corruption is "acceptable", extreme shallowness (appearance is everything) ....... and on and on and on......

I think it's too late.

Having a cuddle in the park definitely puts the final nail in the Thai culture coffin.

Thai couples getting butt naked and having sex in a park seems most unlikely and really implausible . Thais are far too coy for that, and Thai parks are rather sweaty and insect ridden for an enjoyable coupling 'au nature'. If you want to see young couples go at like rabbits. almost oblivious to passersby, and the inevitable voyeurs who spring up around such activity, go to the big Italian city parks - Parco Forlanini in Milan for example.

Been there and it's not for the faint hearted....., but definetly interesting....

In total agreement.with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.

Ever heard the old saying; give them an inch and they'll take a yard? And I`m not talking about the lengths of the males manhood's.

In the UK and the States many of the public parks have become hangouts where young people do and sell drugs and in some areas the parks are actually frequented by street prostitutes plying their trade. Once these people gain footholds in the public parks, than they become no go areas as recreational grounds for families and children, which is the purpose of parks.

The best solution is to have CCT cameras installed and imposed mandatory fines on those who exhibit inappropriate or obscene behavior in public areas.

North Korea would welcome someone like you with open arms. Let me guess, you are in the tourist police?

Amen, the operative words about drinking and sex prove that this is about profits being lost by bar owners, the same reason a country that condones wife beating, pedophelia, hit and run, feudal class privilege, open prostitution, etc., is opposed to porn...it affects the syndicate bottom line.

The headline says something different, and I'm sure there are some who will find ways to distort the image, but I frankly can think of few things within this human experience of ours more wholesome and pure than young couples "kissing and hugging" in a park.

They can't have sex at home ... with 27 people living in a small studio condo.

Where to go?

I Will Open A "One Hour Hotel" For This Obvious Business Opportunity.

I Will Call It: "One And Done".

There are already cheap short time establishments in Thailand, known as love hotels. They have been around for a long as I can remember.

“I hereby affirm that the BMA has not ignored the issue because it is important. If we do nothing, the Thai culture will get deteriorated...” Suwaporn added.

Tsk..tsk...Suwaporn...Suwaporn...Thai culture will deteriorates???

Most of which are already maggots festering open wounds, some gangreneous, others internally rotting.

Just a little left to salvage...or soon gone!

"...Toto, I guess we are NOT IN KANSAS anymore."

WTG Dorothy! No truer words were ever spoken!

Has a "Gone With the Wind" ever been written about Thailand?

Hmmm?

Sex in parks? Doubtful, but try anyplace else that has a cast shadow.

I thought they were just comparing unisex uniforms all the time?

I'll wait for a series of YouTube vids. Links anyone?
