What happens after non b and work permit has been cut off?

Featured Replies

My contract is ending and so my employer will be cutting off my non b visa and work permit. I have only been working in Thailand for a year and a half now. I am planning on going home for two weeks and will then be returning to Thailand to study and travel. Therefore, I want to ask, will I be refused entry into Thailand when I come back?

I am planning on doing a visa on arrival (coming via airport from a country that allows visa on arrival) and travel for the first month, and then to start studying after that, get an ED visa, but will do a visa run for that.

Please advise me?

Will it be better to apply for a tourist visa from the Thai embassy in my country? Or will I be ok and they will allow me entry into Thailand again with a 30 day visa on arrival?

Thanks in advance

It will be Ok to come on a visa exempt entry, but the airline might not let you board without proof of onward travel within 30 days of arrival. For that reason getting a tourist visa will be better (and it does give you more time).

Will the embassy grant me the tourist visa after having a non b and work permit?

You can get a tourist visa after having an extension of stay. I doubt very much you have a valid non-b visa.

whistling.gif What is your nationality?

Probably there will be no problem with a Tourist visa. but be aware that for some nationalities the Thai consulate may ask you to be able to show the financial ability to pay for the stay in Thailand.

Whether they do or not depends on the consulate and your nationality.

If you are a member of a G7 country you can get a visa exempt 30 day entry without a visa but as it was said sometimes the airlines hassle you without a tourist visa.

Better to get a Tourist visa if you can and avoid any possible problems.

Visa on arrival is only 15 days, not a month.

When did the rules change regarding visa on arrival by air being 15 days rather than 30. I think you will find visa on arrival overland borders are15 days but by air 30 days.

You confusing a visa exempt entry with a visa on arrival.

A visa on arrival is only for those from certain countries and it has to be applied for on arrival and a 1000 baht fee paid to get the 15 day entry it allows.

Did you read my previous post. I don't think you are on the list for visa on arrival but can get a visa exempt entry. See: http://www.mfa.go.th/main/contents/files/services-20150120-100712-551809.pdf

As said before you will be allowed in on visa exempt entry without a problem and can also get a tourist visa without a problem.

Thanks so much, I did read. And yeah I dont qualify for visa on arrival.

The reason why I am so worried is because the lady at the Thai embassy in my country told me that they might refuse a tourist visa because they will be wondering why Im returning to thailand so soon after having a business visa.

So i am really worried now, because my whole life is here, but I just want to take a break from working for like a month or so, and just travel and maybe study here, and then later try find a job again.

Is this normal for people working at the embassy to say that a visa might be refused only because Thailand is so strict and unpredictable?

But I wont be refused right? I will be able to get the tourist visa? Ill even add my travel plans and tickets etc, to show proof that ill be traveling.

My nationality is South African. South African passport

An easy answer to their question about wanting a tourist visa after being here on a non-b and extension would be that you are going back to look for work.

I don't think you will have a problem getting a tourist visa.

You cannot always go by a off the cuff remark by staff at an embassy or consulate. There is no rule that says you cannot get a tourist visa after working here.

Thank you sooo much. I really appreciate your help and advice.

You can get a tourist visa after having an extension of stay. I doubt very much you have a valid non-b visa.

May I ask why you doubt he has a valid non-imm B ?

Because the OP had been working here for about 18 months, in all probability, he has an extension of stay based on employment as opposed to a Non-B visa. (They are totally different beasts).

The OP has worked in Thailand for a year and a half.

Single entry non-B visa has 90 days validity.

Multiple entry non-B has one year validity.

Multiple entry non-B has one year validity.

That does not mean that he did not enter with a multi-entry Non-B and then leave and obtain another multi-entry Non-B, but as I said, in all probability, the OP had an extension of stay based on employment.

Hi

one more question, the school said now they will cut my visa and work permit on the 29th, but my flight is on the 27th, but the lady will be taking my passport and documents to immigration on the 23rd.

I will be allowed out of the country, right? As long as I have copies of the documents with me?

You only need your passport, ticket and departure card to be able to leave at the airport.

Well the visa stamped in his passport will then not be a non B as he stated, but would have been a non B followed by extensions. To make the statement that he doesnt have a non B without seeing his passport or knowing all the facts are speculative.
