PATTAYA: -- A group of 14 suspected gamblers were caught playing the popular dice game Hi-Low for money on a piece of land behind a Police Box in Central Pattaya.

The land is currently used as a car park and the group were caught after Police heard excessive noise coming from the location and went to investigate.

The 14 people,11 men and 3 women, were caught on Wednesday afternoon, and appeared unconcerned they were blatantly breaking the law within earshot of the Police stationed at the Police Box on the Sukhumvit Road close to the Index Shopping Mall.

Let's see if the Pattaya police chief and any of his senior officers are transferred for allowing this to happen.

The gamblers could always say they were doing a trial run for the legalization of gambling in Thailand.

Or maybe not...

I like the term suspected I have noticed over the years whenever these people have been caught there has been very little on the table 200baht what were these people playing for ?this is penny ante stuff a fun game .

And meanwhile many illegal large Casinos continue to operate as they are paying Tea money or owned by people of influence.

200B...

What a big money game, police should confiscated the boards and dice, given them a warning and sent them home.

What a big wast of police time and resource taking this any further when they should be used on more important things.

I doubt that police can choose what crime will occur on any given day but to suppose that this one was the only one looked into that day seems a bit naive. Also they do not write the laws and any subsequent judgement will come from any court appearance.
