PM lauds assistance for SMEs

BANGKOK, 21 June 2015 (NNT) - Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has commended the Department of Industrial Promotion for its assistance for Thai SMEs especially the effort to develop their knowledge and skills.

Deputy Government Spokesman Sansern Kaeokamnerd said the department’s assistance praised by the premier included training and business networking for SMEs. The PM was also impressed with the department’s projects to encourage SMEs to continue their business and create innovation which set them apart from competitors, said the deputy spokesman.

Maj.Gen. Sansern added that Gen. Prayut expressed concerns over micro-SMEs who totaled more than two million people but around 330,000 of them had access to capital in the banking system. It was more difficult for this group of SMEs to borrow from banks since they had no balance sheet accounts to apply for loan.
