Going off-grid

Dear Members,

I'm going off-grid. I'm not going to update my passport because the FXXXing idiots at "home" have made it impossible, and I don't want to return or have anything to do with that stinking country ever again. I'll run my own business, and I won't pay the stupidity allowance - I just won't get caught; who's going to catch me? Further more, I'll be damned if I'm going to screw around travelling to Myanmar/Laos/Cambodia to sort my visa knowing that I can be refused for any reason when even their very own Thai immigration services don't have a clue what the rules are. Enough! I'm here, I'm married to a beautiful woman, and although I perhaps can't count myself as young, I'm certainly not old.

Myanmar without passports of being here 30 years live in bigger houses than me every which way but turn, and the most wealthy Thai that I know within a mile radius doesn't have an ID card. Reason is, he went off grid when his lottery failed & he should have turned up for army duty maybe 40 years ago. Nobody has a driving license. Only a shmuck gets planning permission to build anything. Of course you can buy stuff that the law says you can't; you just put it in a morons name, and have big friends.

Want to play by the rules? I think they were made for fools. The police can't manage an emergency; televised rubbish is simply that - propoganda to disinter: I wouldn't mind a reef, but I couldn't even get it back home, so I won't miss it. Not worth the bother. Try to avoid making enemies - truth is, whatever precautions you've taken, you can be kicked out toot-sweet; that's why they make the rules so incomprehensible.

Thai visa? Yeah-right!
