News Flash: Alcohol Use Helps Boost Income

"Alcohol use helps boost income: study", Yahoo! News, Thu Sep 14

WASHINGTON (AFP) - People who consume alcohol earn significantly more at their jobs than non-drinkers, according to a US study that highlighted "social capital" gained from drinking.

The study published in the Journal of Labor Research Thursday concluded that drinkers earn 10 to 14 percent more than teetotalers, and that men who drink socially bring home an additional seven percent in pay.

...

It costs what % of the income to earn that extra bit?

It is interesting that women don't earn extra by social drinking in bars.

Not exactly a peer reviewed study.

That's funny.. I rarely see people drinking in (first and business class) airport lounges or on the 'club level' in hotels where the liquor is free.

Or, at least that's why my granny told me.

Always plenty of drunkards in the bars, though.

Business lunches, dinners, 19th hole etc.

Could be turned around. People who earn more are probably entertaining clients, and being entertained, more.

We could give another interpretation :

-you earn a lot when you work a lot

-when you work a lot, your stress level is high

-when you're stressed... you drink alcohool (or take drugs) !

That's very simple.

:o

People who are broke can't afford a drink :o

Seriously ... nobody trusts a teetotler.

Naka.
