I ordered rum raisin ice cream from Pizza Co but noticed it didn't taste much like the RR I'm used to from back home. Then I looked at the carton, which says "vanilla & milk":

There is a sticker on the back that says "rum raisin flavored milk ice cream"

I'm not sure if the carton was mislabeled or what, and I find it bizarre that ice cream can be called milk-flavored. I would think milk flavored would be equivalent to plain ice cream, meaning no flavor at all except for the flavor of the cream itself.

There do appear to be raisins in it, although they're the yellow type. But that is where the similarity to rum raisin ice cream ends. The mixture leaves a definite aftertaste of fresh paint in my mouth. Next time I'll get the chocolate.

Has anyone tried this?

It isn't ice cream. It's ice milk. I don't see where it says milk flavored. I see where it says "rum raisin flavored" and then "milk ice cream". It sounds awful, lol.

It says "ice cream" right under the word "premium". And where it's says "vanilla and milk" do you read that as and ingredient list rather than a description of the flavor?

It is awful. I barely finished the quart.

I see the "ice cream" now. That's false. Yuck. The good news is it wouldn't have too many calories, especially not calories that I would eat.

Lesson learned.

They do ok,but not fantastic.maybe A 6.5 to A 7. Myself I like HagenDaaz.Can't find it everywhere in Thailand

Ben &Jerry's is also good.

I like Hagen Daaz. and Ben &Jerry's too, but they are WAY too expensive in Thailand. I feel like I am just throwing money away. Luckily, I know a few places that make homemade Thai ice-cream for 30 a scoop that are excellent, so I just go there.

There is another premium brand that can be found at many stores including Big "C" called Buds from San Francisco. They have a Rum Raisin that is almost certainly what you are looking for. This is also one of my favorite ice creams. It's expensive at about 170 or so a pint, but that's a lot less than Haagen Daz or Ben and Jerry's.
