Bought a new Asus Zenfone 5 from Lazada in April. Screen broken (only one corner visible, completely non-responsive), not sure how it happened (young kids involved, no one knows for sure) but it was during a car trip and inside the car. If it fell, it can't have fallen more than 2-3 feet onto the car floor. I googled a bit and broken screens from mild violence don't seem all too uncommon with this model.

None of the possible scenarios entail much violence, which is why I believe Asus should repair this under warranty. What are my chances and where can I take my phone? I live in Rayong. The Asus website does list one repair center in Rayong, but phones aren't listed under that repair center. It's a one hour drive from my place.

If Asus refuse, any suggestions as for its replacement? I liked the Zenfone 5 while it worked, but I obviously want a more robust phone, don't want my phone breaking every three months. I would also like something a bit smaller, 4" - 4.5" is my ideal size, but I can take 5" if no good 4 - 4.5" options exist. More than 5" is just way too big.
