Prayut: the economy will grow
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha has vowed that Thailand's economy will move forward, as he tried to maintain foreign confidence in the country.

"The world today is full of conflicts already, so right now it's the time when we should put more effort in building and strengthening our economy instead of wasting time in conflicts," he remarked at the Nikkei Bangkok Forum at Bangkok hotel on Monday.

"Thailand as one of the most important production bases. Thus, we should move forward together with the world community without leaving anyone behind," he said.

He said the bureaucracy should not only uphold transparency but also work progressively to preserve trade credibility and international investment and make up for the time that had been wasted.

He added: "Currently, Thailand provides trade and interment services that can be channelled through BoI [the Board of Investment] and the Special Economic Zones at the provincial level."

Prayut claimed that he did not seek to destroy anything unless it was wrong and he would proceed within a legal framework.

"The country's stability relies on political stability. I assure you that Thailand is peaceful today. We are trying to preserve a good relationship with every country and making sure Thailand will move forward as we are doing our best", he said.

"....... instead of wasting time in conflicts.....The country's stability relies on political stability"

"....bureaucracy should not only uphold transparency but also work progressively..."

These two quotes perfectly reflect a political sentiment shared by a narrow, Bangkok-centric elite.

Their sense of entitlement and arrogance is such, that if they had their way, they would disenfranchise a huge sector of the electorate. Those who are considered lesser citizens and simply cause 'conflicts' plus political 'instability', and voted for Thaksin/Yingluck.

The reference to a 'bureaucracy' is indicative of a larger political tenet of this aristocratic, moneyed upper class....For them, who needs Politicians...They are simply a 'Trojan Horse' within their hallowed ranks and linked to those lesser citizens. It is they who cause all that conflict and instability by having the temerity to debate and question the informed enlightenment of this upper class....For them, a compliant bureaucracy comprised of their acolytes is a much preferred and more stable political space....Hence, their demonization campaign against Politicians......For them, an appointive system from within their own ranks, administering the country via a bureaucracy of their own kind, will go a long way to have conflict-free and stable governance. I deplore Posters here, chiming in with that anti-politician ideology....In Thailand, this is not a benign shot at lawyers and Politicians....It is an anti-democratic ideology

You can see some of that encompassed within their constitution, including all the so-called independent agencies with no oversight from an electorate, and even the more egregious notion of political interest groups having political sway.......It has been an MO of theirs to segment themselves every which way, pretending they comprise distinct and sincere interest groups, when all they are is different groups - same faces.

All of this, trying to get a grip on the surreptitious, phony notions of the anti-democrats seeking to advance themselves without anyone noticing.

You ain't seen nothing yet. Wait to see how they will structure a constitutional referendum with a phony electoral overlay.

...And then went out and bought 3 submarines.

Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha has vowed that Thailand's economy will move forward...

...after we have enough rainwater, skilled workers, a proper education system, a halfway decent infrastructure, 10 mio. more Chinese tourists, a proper fishery industry, a working tax system, international standards for air safety etc. etc.

In other words- economy will move forward in around 90 days...

Interment services??????? What are they trying to bury? The truth that the economy won't grow anytime soon, perhaps :-)

"he would proceed within a legal framework."

Prayut can begin by vacating his position as PM, dissolving the NCPO, and dissolving the government. Restore the 2007 Constitution and hold national elections to reset the country's DEMOCRATIC CONSTITUTIONAL MONARCHY.

"Thailand's economy will move forward"

This is good news!

Not that the economy "will move forward" (whatever than means) but by Prayut no longer making absurd numerical predictions about growth of GDP, exports and manufacturing.

Now he needs to instruct his Minister of Commerce, Minister of Finance and Deputy PM for Economic Affairs to do the same. Then maybe the Government can stop being distratcted by having to explain its prediction failures or making up silly excuses ("It's negative deflation", "It's beyond our control") and focus on realistic economic plans.

"Prayut claimed that he did not seek to destroy anything unless it was wrong and he would proceed within a legal framework"

He's just destroyed the country and removed the legal framework and replaced it first with Martial Law and now Article 44 backed by military courts... Does he not think people have noticed?
