Monday roadside stalls closed

Featured Replies

I thought it was just a few areas but apparently roadside stalls are not allowed to operate on Mondays anywhere in Bkk. Anyone know what the deal is with this?

Yes, vendors are not allowed to operate on Mondays per BMA regulations.

Comes from regulations enacted what Chamlong was governor (I think), keeping one day for street cleaning.

Thanks, Sviss, planr.

I guess they've just started enforcing the rule because lower Suk used to be humming late every night, no exceptions, till about a month ago. It's funny to see the place deserted like last night.

I'll wager though that it all starts to slip (like the no shisha law) in about a month. It'll take more than an army to keep Bkk from doing what it does best.
