I am supposed to travel on the 24th of July but my new passport will not arrive in time. The Swiss embassy have said they will issue me an emergency passport. I just wanted to make sure that Thailand will accept this emergency passport?

I will also be travelling to Malaysia.

Any information on the subject would be greatly appreciated.

Surely the local Thai embassy or consulate would be the people to ask?

I thought the requirement was for a passport with at least 6 months validity remaining. Does an emergency passport have a validity time?

I have tried to contact them about this with no luck so far.

The emergency passport will have 12 months validity.

From timatic web.

http://www.staralliance.com/en/services/visa-and-health/#

Passport required.
- Passports issued to nationals of Switzerland must be valid

for the period of intended stay.
- for holders of normal passports;
- Emergency and temporary passports issued to nationals of

Switzerland must be valid for at least 6 months
from date of
arrival.
Passport Exemptions:

- Holders of emergency or temporary passports.

Visa required, except for A max. stay of 30 days:
- for holders of normal, emergency or temporary passports,
issued to nationals of Switzerland;

Sounds like all OK.

Just to make sure I got you right:

you want to travel from Switzerland to Thailand?

Where are you now?

(because you write "Swiss Embassy"?)

I have travelled in to Thailand from Singapore on an emergency passport without an problem. The passport was valid for 12 months. As long as there are more than 6 months on it, you are good.

At the moment I am in Ireland.

But I think that my real passport will arrive in time. Thank you all very much for your help! :-)

It makes me laugh sometimes why people ask questions here!!

Yes, some people can give good advice but with issues like this you'd need 100% guaranteed info from the airline surely

Only they will either say yes or no as its 'up to them'

I disagree. The airlines only care if you have a valid visa or an exit flight within 30 days.

It is Thai immigration that will decide if an emergency passport is OK or not.

Disagree on the disagree!

Of course airlines DO care what kind of passport you have.

Diplomatic/official, normal, temporary/emergency, duration of validity.

They strictly adhere to their IT based system (timatic) to check the situation.

And that system reflects to the best knowledge what the regulations at the departure point/(transit points) and final destination are.

See post #4.

I am out here,

You're not correct on this.

Even if a countries immigration dept state THEY would accept the travel document it is the AIRLINES ultimate decision based on the facts presented. Immigration do NOT and CANNOT dictate & make decisions for airlines. They can of course inform & educate & provide guidance etc. but they would never tell an airline a person WILL fly with you with this document that we ultimately accept. The airline will make their decision which has no appeal via immigration or any other govt dept.
