Poipet run today

Featured Replies

Little bit busier than last time. Bunch of German tourists doing a 30 day run, obviously don't know about the 30 days at Imm' for 1900 !!.

Overheard two couples being asked for flight tickets out of Thailand but don't know the outcome of that one.

One area of roadworks causing a good hours delay on the way there, about 100k short of poipet.

About 1 hour turn around for myself.

Really hated that place and horrible dangerous drive especially at night, route is full of mini buses and trucks and coaches, 3 worst drivers in Thailand. Hated it so much started driving and extra 6 hours to Rayong and the casino there, so much easier and far nicer

That is the Pailin crossing. It is also called Ban Pakard.

Pailin is the Cambodia side of the border.

Those are the ones meant by Ubonjoe. Both crossings, located approx. 25km from each other are located in Chantaburi's Pong Nam Ron district. The first one is called Ban Laem (opposite Daung, Battambang, Cambodia) and the second one, further south is called Ban Pakkard on the Thai side, and Prom, Pailin province on the Cambodian side.

and both get less than 10 farangs/day!! :-)

Things must have changed. I used to go to both, mainly Ban Laem, and you had to be there fairly early or get caught in the Pattaya minibus crowd.

If you left it till later it was bus loads of locals. That being said they are both far better crossings than Poipet, never do that one again.

Ban Pakkard is where many companies from Pattaya go. Land at the wrong moment and you can find maybe 30 ppl, so you may have to wait a while, mostly for getting the Cambodia VoA.
