Hello,

I recently had a serious motorbike accident where I was hospitalised for 6 days after crashing with a bus.

To cut a long story short the company has agreed to cover the cost of my medical bills and the owner of the Bike shop had the motorbike insured also.

The bus drivers company has agreed to pay 60k baht to me and the bike companies insurance is 30k baht.

This just about covers my expenses.

This is where the problem is.... I am leaving the country tomorrow and have been told the insurance has to be paid into my name and will take around 20 days to arrive at my condo. (My girlfriend is still going to be living in Thailand but I am returning to the UK she is farang also.) and that the cheques can not be cashed as they are in my name. The only way to cash the cheque is using a Thai account with me producing my passport at the bank counter and being here in person.

My plan was not to come back to Thailand so is there a way round this? Is it possible to have the cheques cashed in the UK ? Would it be wise speaking with the Thai embassy in the UK?

To add further I have all relevant documentation - police letter - insurance paperwork signed by myself / insurance company / police.

Any help is much appreciated.
