I have just moved to Thailand just outside Petchabun.

I am looking to buy a couple of year old car I have a yellow book so I can buy in my own name. I have tried to do my homework but I would like to ask members is there any way of checking if there is outstanding finance on a vehicle when you buy it. I cant imagine there is an HP check that can be done. Or does the bank hold the greenbook til the loan is paid off.

Also is it law you have too get the vehicle registered in the province that you live

Any help much appreciated

Bluebook and the Finance Co holds the book until paid off.

..and a yellow book isn't a necessity.

Yes but very handy as you do not need a letter from immigration.

To register a vehicle you need a letter from immigration or a yellow book as proof of your address.
