Does anyone know where I should buy one. I see them on ebay but I am worried about costoms. There are lots of makita impact drivers with no batteries or chargers. Can they be bought here if I order "body only". I'm looking for a brushless model with high tork but I don't mind if it's electric or battery. What would you do. They in turn sell to five distributors in Thailand. Any retailer including Global House, Thai Watsadu, HomePro, HomeMart then establish agreements with one or more of the distributors. Not every Makita Tool in a catalog printed in Thailand is actually imported to Thailand. The web site makitathailand is not from the official importer, but rather a distributor. There are many stores which can offer lower prices than you might see on that web site. I've bought several Makita PowerTools, Makita Garden Tools for my home from a family owned shop in Buriram. I've also purchased quite a few Maktec Power Tools at the same shop for various family members who work in house construction when they are not growing rice. I see that the Japanese managers and Thai executives of Thai Seng Trading were in Buriram last Thursday to train employees of the same Makita authorized repair center that I get my Makita Tools repaired. Every City in Thailand of any size has at least one "tool shop" that stocks more Makita Tools than most any chain store. Impact Drivers are easy to find from DeWALT, Makita, Milwaukee, Hitachi at the better tool shops. The executives of those brands will work closely with the high volume dealers who also do the repairs of those brands. There must be similar shops in other Thailand provinces that carry such a stock. They might be the Authorized Makita Service Point and they have a certificate signed by Mr. Yoshihara Nishiguchi of Thai Seng Trading Company. If you buy from a major chain store or from a tool shop that does a high volume in name brand tools you probably will not buy a "copy" tool in Thailand. I have not seen any bargains on lithium ion name brand tool batteries nor have I seen low prices on name brand NiCad batteries or battery chargers in Thailand. For its size it's 'kin amazing, no cam-out of Pozidrive screws, almost no torque in the hand. Came from MegaHome in Rangsit in a kit with two batteries and a torch. Bu99ered if I can remember how much MegaHome also had offerings of various sizes from the other major names, the DeWalt was mid-price of the small units. I have farm equipment and I use air driven impact wrenches like the one in post #5 which require a high pressure constant airflow (3.3cfm@90psi) and when the air source is not available - they don't work well with the small portable compressors I use a Klien hand driven impact wrench. If you need help finding any tool, part or building supply product you should contact Ruangsangthi in Buriram. They will do the research and tell you what is available and have competitive pricing and ship immediately vis EMS. Same store I get my own power tools repaired and that I take my village relatives power tools and brush cutters for repairs. There must be similar tool supply stores that stock and repair proper name brand power tools in other provinces of Thailand. The sort of Thailand store that has a wide range of name brand tools you recognize, an actual repair facility and maybe not spa tubs or window curtains. The store I am more confident is buying a power tool will allow me to test the tool in the repair department prior to handing over my baht. Picture Klien Impact Driver.doc However the air driven wrenches such as the one pictured in post #5 are also called "impact wrenches" from where I come from. Instead of the hammer, they use short bursts of high pressure air to apply additional torque. The battery pack screwdrivers do not provide either and , in my mind, they are not impact tools. I found some air driven ones at Lazada and one battery powered one at HomePro - DIrecttoshop. I suspect there are more out there, I didn't try REAL hard since I don't need one right now. I don't know why everyone thought you were looking for a hammer drill but they are very common here with all the concrete used in construction. It seems you are looking for a 1/2 or 3/8 square drive high torque drive like used in Automotive and Motorcycle repair. My little baby Dewalt makes a real din Went back and ran your video with the sound on this time. I agree it does make a noise and thought that they had just incorporated a "din" generator. But. I looked up the specification and it does say that it it a true "impact driver" with 0-3500 impacts per second. My two old B&D's and Hitachi are just screwdrivers. First one I've seen so stand corrected. Be interested in hearing about battery life once you've used it for a while as I have a good source for DEWALT products as posted above - Ruangsangthai in Buriram! It doesn't have a torque limiter so practice is needed with the variable speed trigger or it will quite happily drive a screw right through the work-piece, all without any noticeable strain on the hand It was something of an impulse buy, my old Ryobi drill/driver is on its last legs (even with re-celled batteries) so I was in the market for a replacement and spotted the impact drivers in MegaHome (I'd not seen them before so possibly new arrivals). Wifey will have filed the receipt somewhere too, will look when I get home from work. EDIT That was the kit with two batteries, charger and LED torch. Put a little pressure on the driver and pull the trigger. Bang, bang, bang and the thing is on the way out.
