Patong musician found hanged

PHUKET: -- Police have yet to rule out foul play in the death of a Patong musician found hanged at his home in the Than Thong residential estate in Vichit this morning (July 21).

Officers were called to the house, on Pattana Thongthin Rd, at 10am, where they found Niwatchai Srisang, 39, from Nakorn Sri Thammarat, dead on the floor of his bedroom.

Family members who also live in the house told police that they had lowered Mr Niwatchai after they discovered him hanging by electrical wire from a steel bar on the bedroom window.

“His family said that he went out with friends last night and came back late, but they noticed that he hadn’t risen this morning so they went to check on him,” said Lt Jara Limpan of the Vichit police.

“We tried to revive him after we got him to the floor,” said one relative.

“Niwatchai and his girlfriend were having some problems lately. We are not sure if they were still together or maybe he had other issues that we did know of,” the relative added.

Lt Jaras said that police found no signs of foul play, assault or robbery, and that police believe Mr Niwatchai had been dead for at least one hour before officers arrived.

“We will wait for doctors at Vachira Phuket Hospital in Phuket Town to confirm the cause of death before deciding whether to investigate further, Lt Jaras said.

For the sake of final honors it would have been nice if the newspapers would at least have mentioned what instrument Mr. Niwatchai played and where, etc. if they refer to the poor soul as musician...
