BANGKOK: -- Royal Thai Police commissioner Pol Gen Somyot Pumpanmuang today comforted former Pheu Thai party's Nakhon Sawan MP not to worry much about the investigation into the suspicious death of the construction tycoon by his advisor with promise to look into the case with justice.

The national police chief’s assurance came as the former Nakhon Sawan MP Pol Lt Col Bunyin Tangpakorn voiced concern that he would not be fairly treated after Pol Gen Jarumpol Suramanee was appointed to supervise forensic investigation of the car crash on June 26 which killed the tycoon Chuwong Sae Tang, 51.

Pol Lt Col Bunyin was driver of the Lexus luxury van that crashed into a tree that killed the tycoon on the left front seat. The former MP claimed a pickup truck overtook his van instantly while he was driving the tycoon home at night, forcing him to swerve to the footpath and rammed at the tree.

Investigation by Udomsuk police who first responded to the incident concluded it was a car accident judging from first hand accounts from charity foundation rescuers who arrived first at the crash scene, and account from the driver.

Pol Lt Col Bunyin was then charged with reckless driving that caused death to other.

The body of the tycoon was later cremated in a funeral.

But after the funeral, the tycoon’s sister became suspicious of the nature of her brother’s death after she recovered documents from a finance company showing her brother had transferred shares worth a combined value of almost 300 million baht to two women, who were later identified as a caddy at a golf course, and a female broker. Both women were found to do part time jobs as show girls for advertising events and motor shows.

The case turned more suspicious when the sister found his brother had wrongly spelt the family names in the transfer of shares worth 40 billion baht to one of the show girls.

Pol Lt Col Bunyin showed sign of dissatisfaction after Pol Gen Jarumporn came in to investigate.

At the inspection of the crash scene mid this week, he met Pol Gen Jarumporn and questioned whether who appointed him to handle the case.

But the forensic expert replied that he was assigned by Pol Gen Somyot to look into forensic theories only without any interference into other investigation process.

Pol Lt Col Bunyin later complained with Pol Gen Somyot about the appointment of Pol Gen Jarumporn to look into the case, reasoning that he might be given fair treatment because Pol Gen Jarumporn is acquainted with the dead tycoon’s sister who was first to raise suspicion over the car crash.

But Pol Gen Somyot said today that he assigned Pol Gen Jarumporn to look into the car crash because he is a forensic expert with long experience in the field.

He assured that the former MP should not worry much as everything would be based on scientific evidence with no personal bias involved.

He said Pol Gen Jarumporn has professional ethics enough and it would be good for the former MP if forensic examination come out to be positive for him.

not to worry much about the investigation into the suspicious death

For some this may sound like a hint to his subordinates...

He's awfully good at that.

Hints that Koh Tao investigation was excellent and will reach the right conclusion.

Hints that Nomsod's DNA was not a match proving his innocence beyond doubt after the lightning quick results.

Hints that he can't strip Thaksin of his police rank, despite several attempts to get him to do so. That seems to have died now.

So yes, by saying that, he inferring what he's expecting the results to be.

Two recently very rich young women whose "patron" has expired in strange circumstances. A former senior police officer and ex PTP MP and deputy minister involved and drove the car. All now finally talking to the police at their leisure.

Do you think another large share purchase might be in the offering?

Only one month and a few days to go before a well earned retirement.

This is appalling, how much more crooked can this whole sound. Since when it is the job of police to reassure potential suspects in an ongoing investigation.. It is hard to fathom just how bent this top cop appears to be. Not a lot of reforming going on it seems, looks like its as shady as ever
