Hua Hin for Buddhist Lent

Featured Replies

So I'm doing a bit of solo travel to Hua Hin to enjoy the long weekend and was wondering how Buddhist Lent will affect the area. Will all of the bars be shut down or is there an area where I could still get a cold beer? If drinking isn't an option what are some other good options to enjoy the evening in Hua Hin?

Thanks for any suggestions!

I was having lunch in one of the local places in Hua Hin this afternoon when a cop stopped by on his motorbike and handed over a printed notice in Thai which confirmed that the bars are expected to close Thursday and Friday this week. As I watched he crossed the street and delivered the same notice to a local 'thai style' store / supermarket which also sells alcohol.

So officially at least there will be no alcohol served anywhere (bars, restaurants and stores) on Thursday and Friday.

He added that this starts from midnight tonight (Thursday night) so don't count on a late one if you're going out tonight either !

I just grabbed a large bottle of Sang Som to cover me for those two days for that reason. Didn't know if there'd be any hole-in-the-wall or hidden secrets. Thanks for the info!

Pattaya Soi 6 bars closed at midnight last night (so I've heard!) yet girls were still trying to get customers in at 5 minutes to 12!
