Please forgive me if I pick this wrong forum.

I have just received my new passport & all info are correct.

Then I peeled out the small yellow label, "Please remove this label".

I could not see the chip on the passport page but it is on the label instead. Its adhesive label must be too strong.

So I tried to put that chip back to the passport page with my best care.

I am not too sure if the chip may be affected - see attached

Has anyone have that similar experience?

I've got the same style of passport and there is no chip for sure on that page. Whether it was on a sticker which I removed or was never there at all I have no idea. What I do know is that the passport has worked without problem for 2.5 years, in fact nearly full now.

....from UK.GOV.....

Note

 The bio data (personal details) page is at the front of the passport and located on page 2.

 The passport chip is located in the cover of the passport.

 The invisible printing of the laminate fluoresces strongly.

 The laser perforated number consists of variable hole shapes (circle, square and triangle).

As stated above, the chip is in the cover page now for better protection... I don't think you've removed or damaged the chip

Good on you! Why HMPO asks every passport ownership to peel out the stupid yellow label covering the chip? Or could it be protected against the post office security or something?

The chip I showed earlier is located at the second last page of the passport.

Yep, take it out as advised.........Nooooo problem........The info thingy is in your PP and cannot be physically tampered with...

The sticker was affixed by IPS for internal production control procedures and can be peeled off.

Thanks. That answers my curiosity. thumbsup.gif

I got the same > yellow label < on the end page of my new passport and it states > please remove this label <

therefore one is able to remove it, but it is not essential, some fellows might keep the yellow label inside.

The passport is now probably invalid.

Seek the advice of your Embassy.

Yeah, currently waiting for a response.

..which will no doubt be forthcoming "in the fullness of time" and "at the appropriate juncture"...rolleyes.gif

Got a response from HMPO. See below & I still appreciate your quick comments.

Thank you for your email of 30 July 2015 about the difficulties you experienced when trying to remove the yellow sticker from page 32 of your passport.

We can confirm that the yellow label you removed does not contain the chip, or any other information, but has been used to increase the security of the passport during the production process.

Your passport is therefore fully valid for travel purposes.

Yours sincerely
