August 5, 201510 yr Hi there This might just be the wackiest question asked on Thaivisa today.... But, long story short, the brother of our female dog (1.5 years old) is coming to live with us (wife's sister no longer has time/can be bothered looking after it) Neither animal has been neutered and I guess there is a risk of inbreeding, right? I'll get them neutered asap but was wondering if anyone had info on this. Thanks
August 6, 201510 yr No problem with mine, [boys did not get the snip in time]...... feel sure street dogs do not ask first. are you my Sister, cousin, or Mum
August 7, 201510 yr Nobody seems to want to answer you, pinkpanther, so I'll have a go. I'm no expert, though, and if somebody who knows more likes to contradict me, go ahead! My first question is, what breed? If they are a rare breed in Thailand, they're probably inbred already, and more inbreeding would not be good. I had a Bangkaew which was, I'm pretty sure, very inbred, and it was the most temperamental dog I've ever had. If they're a common breed, or soi dogs, inbreeding would probably do no harm, As ignis said, soi dogs don't ask, Are you my sister?
August 7, 201510 yr If neither dog has been neutered than no problem as they are both males..... Edited August 7, 201510 yr by NickJ
August 7, 201510 yr There are injection you can do up to 3 times for a female to avoid pregnancy. Inbreeding is up to Mother Nature . Sometimes can be ok, problems may not be clear at first but sicknesses later can pop up. Many puppy farms inbreed and pups look ok but problems may develop later Edited August 7, 201510 yr by konying
August 7, 201510 yr In breeding is highly prevalent in dogs from the deep South resulting in a misshaped jaw and skull as well as a predisposition to wear dungarees and play the banjo
