Moving to another province and holding a Tabien ban (yellow housebook)...As one can only have 1 housebook registration, how do I get a new one in the other province? Do I have to return the "old" book to the Amphur or can I change it?

maybe a lame one but I have a question, one is entitled to this yellow tabian baan only if his wife is the owner of the house or also if he rent a place?

Thanks

A yellow book can be obtained for any house with permission from the person shown as the head of household in a blue house book.

Personal experience 2012 went to my existing amphur and reported my move to another province and gave details, they in return gave me a letter in with the details and which said I had 15 days to report to this new address. My wife also did the same but she was given 30 days. As it was we only needed 7 as we went to our new amphur office at 8AM on a Monday. In 20 minutes she had a new ID and a new BLUE house book. Her cost was 50 baht. I then produce my letter and my YTB and in 10 minutes was given a new YTB with my new details added. Cost 50 baht. This is when I found out that a YTB was address specific. I was given back my old YTB and was ask to return it to the original address as they would not issue another YTB for that address. As it was that was no problem. We gave the YTB to the new owner of our old house as her husban was an American and wanted a YTB.

Expand some please, Ubonjoe

I have a condo - yellow book. Now, I live in my wife's house on her mother's land.

Whoever is # 1 in blue book can grant permission for an occupier to have a yellow book? ie me. How do they grant permission? Does wifey or MIL provide the permission?

Then, I would need to go to the Amphur Office & relinquish my condo housebook?

Any potential problems upon the sale of my condo without a yellow housebook?

They can cancel it at the new Amphoe.

Logically that should be true, as that is the process when a Thai is registering address change for the blue tabien bahn. However, my new amphur in Mae Tha, Lamphun insists that I first have to go to Bangkok and cancel my existing yellow tabien bahn and then come back to them and they will make a new one for our new address. I have seen reports here on TV that other amphurs have the same interpretation on how this should be done.

The requirements for issuing a yellow tabien bahn varies widely from amphur to amphur, so you will have to go to the amphur in question and ask them how to do this.

Now I understand why so many people do not abide by the legislation. Time & $$$.

Going to BKK? Why?

It does not really matter - the law is the law.

Aha, the yellow book, where half of the numbers are not working and the other half registered

to someone's grand mother name.....

This was infra-BKK but i suspect it will be the same for you, my wife has to go to the original ampur, with the registered house master to officially be moved out. They will give you some paperwork to take to the new khet or district, and you can be moved on to the new one in the precense of the new house master.

Keep both books.

In the new residence, we are fortunate. The Amphur Office is within 100m of HER house.

One more question on this topic; I am planning to move from my current address, for which I have my yellow book, to a new address, but still in the same Amphur (just down the road). Will I still need to get a new yellow book issued for the new address, or can the original issuing office amend the address in my original book? My wife will be changing her address in her blue book too.

My understanding you will need a new book as the YTB is address specific. As your moving within the same amphur its easy enough to ask them.
