Need to get new tyres on my Toyota Fortuner that I just bought. The 265/70/16R Michelin's have plenty of tread but they are 7 year old.

It will mainly be used on the highway with occasional dirt road use.

Has anyone used the Maxxis AT771 Bravo's? or can recommend other brands? that aren't too noisy and good in the wet.

Haven't used the Maxxis tires, and don't know anyone that has.

Have used 2 sets of the Yokohama Parada Spec-X, and know a few people who have also used them - recommended - but not sure if they make a fitment for 16" SUV wheels..

Thanks IMHO. They are more highway tread and not available in my size. Might have a look at the Yoko AT geolanders if available in Thailand.

Nitto Japanese tyre do that size.

Sorry cant tell you price but their not expensive compared to other makes.

Just had fitted a full set of 265/60R/18/110V on my Sportivo

So far have found them very good in both the dry and wet also very quiet. Cost 29th that compares to 46th for Bridgestone. If you don't go for the V rating a lot cheaper. Whatever might be worth a look.

N/B they also run cooler than Bridgestone.

Thanks fredob43. Which Nittos did you get? Terra grabbers look good..

Terra Grabbers look good enough for normal use. I have had fitted NT420S but you won't need those unless you have had the engine sorted. Have a poke around but you should get T/G for somewhere in the region of 4/5,000bt a piece???

If you can let us know what you settle for when you do, would be much obliged as it helps everyone that is in the same boat.

Hope this helps.

How much for your Sportivo tyres? I know the OEM Bridgestones are fairly expensive.

I did put that in an earlier post 46th 11,500bt each that was for 265/60R/18V. Fitting free.

Had found them 'Bridgestone' very good only half worn at 80,000km but 6+ years old so getting near the end of their life.

They need to be good at that price though.

I only got the Nitto tyres as they didn't have Bridgestone in my local shop.

That was after they had let me use their comp: to see what they were all about.

Must say am very pleased with them, not forgetting the saving of 17,000bt.

Thanks guys. I am actually not in Thailand at the moment, so I am relying on my wife to look for whats around in Khon Kaen.

Fredob43 the Nittos you got look good for a sports tyre, be interesting to hear how they wear.

Will keep you posted to what we buy.

Sorry fredob43 i dont know what you mean by 29th and 46th. Are you saying 11500 for Bridgestone?

29,000bt for 4 Nitto = 7.250bt each.

47,000bt for 4 Bridgestone = 11,500bt each.

Hopefully clear now.

All the information I can get comes mainly from the USA & Canada. All report good for Dry/Wet & ware.

Crap on Snow but as we don't get to much Snow here not to worried.

As long as they last about the same time as Bridgestone??? I should get at least 6 years out of them.

My wife has informed me that she has put Bridgestone Ecopia EP850's on the Fortuner as the guy at Cockpit told her they are the best!

So I'm not a happy chappie at the moment. Probably would have been my last choice.

Not a lot of reviews out on these tyres and they appear to be produced to appease the green brigade. Low rolling resistance = compromise on grip.

Time will tell. Anyone else used these tyres?

Tip never listen to anyone that is selling something. Cockpit tried to sell me a tyre that was only fit for 150kmph not only that was a 155 instead of 165. I smiled and went to my normal place.

Whatever they should be ok they have a rating of M only 1 less than V so ample enough.

Sorry to say though they have got crap ratings to-wit noisy.

Best of luck look on the bright side at least you'll only have them for the next six years.

The plans of mice and married to a Thai, man A.

Let us know how you get on with them.

N/B I do happen to know a good divorce Lawyer. Found him recently that was after I came back from the BKK Motor show suffering from tasty lady syndrome.

Six years...I don't think you get that for murder here. Will try them out and I can always divorce them and trade them for a newer younger model if they don't perform.

Thanks will contact you if I need the divorce lawyer, thought I might have needed one last night.

The guys at Cockpit must be on a roll, they sold your wife a set of crap tyres and I would guess been given a set of Michelin's that still have not reached the expiry date.

They will be able to have a glass or three after these are sold.

I'm not to sure of this but on viewing the tyres fitted on the new Ford/Toyota MPV at the motor show, they both fitted Bridgestone and I think they resembled those tyres. Over to the more knowledgeable peeps on that one.

Don't take to much notice of the reports at least some are good.

Best of luck.

I had seen that review and hence the reason why I was more than a little annoyed.
