why not use the famous article 44 and stop them????????

Because saying is not the same as doing.

At the moment, lots of youngster are putting up two fingers to the police and the army and the government and the police, the army and the government can't do anything about it because there's too many of them and they don't know where they are. There's a bit of baiting going on at thee moment. Of course, the police. the army and the government aren't exactly helped by the fact that the youngsters appear to be smarter than they are too,

I suspect it will get worse as more youngsters realise the police the army and the government are essentially impotent and want to join in all the fun.

Nice to see the RTP actually doing something, it is actually hard to believe they can do something like this without the assistance of the army.

Still think the army should be observing to ensure the "do you know who my farther is?" thing does not work...

But what if the father is an army officer???

I was told of a rumor a long time ago, of a dark-tinted black Fortuner and Camry roaming the streets of Bangkok for these bikers. When they found the bikers, the Fortuner and Camry would roll down their windows and shoot at these bikers, not all, just a few. I don't know how true these rumors are.

But that was back when the police couldn't do anything.

"I was told of a rumor a long time ago,......"

Well, within the last 10 years anyway, that's a long time I guess.

It almost seems too simple. I'm sure the army has a front end loader that can push the bikes into a pile & then set them on fire. After the fire is out, the same loader can dig a hole and bury the bikes. Let the little darlings walk home.

Motorists Advised To Beware Of Illegal Street Racers.

BANGKOK: -- Weekend travellers planning to visit Nakhon Nayok’s Wang Takrai park are warned to drive in extreme caution if taking the Rangsit-Nakhon Nayok highway as several thousands of teenage street racers are heading there.

In other words, "We don't care, we don't take responsibility if something happens to you, have a nice day" amazing Smile-land

Yep i guess that is about it, Thailand moving backwards again with no stability or control

these young lads are the same the world over they don't give a damn about authority or the police the bikers in America are just the same the Harley Davidson mob hells angels have always defied authority .

I reckon their modified Honda Waves could go faster than the Harleys ;)

I was out riding today and went from Prachinburi via Nakhon Nayok to Ayutthaya around 2 pm, and saw a lot of them on the road, and no cops - I think they gave up. Anyway, from what I saw most of them were wearing helmets, so that is a start, and they were just riding, nothing too crazy.

I say give them places they can race, cos you aren't going to stop them.

wow, police and military are afraid of motorcycle KIDS. what happened to the law just passed that parents are responsible for there children. as usual, make a law and have no FACE to enforce it, or people to enforce it. typical dog and poney show, talk and no guts or action. it is really a shame, the level of police enforcement of the laws has become. just show me the brown bag!!

what a joke Thailand and there laws and enforcement have become. run a policemen over with your ferrari, give the family some money and leave the country as if nothing ever happened. really sad!!

Why all the comments so racist against them, not all are bad, they aren't commiting any violent crime, just having some adrenaline.

You take their hobby and joy away, they will go into crime and drugs. Thailand is still safe heaven, but I wont be surprise when hundreds of boys who just like to race their little modified bikes will turn into crime to compensate.

This is so easy for all of you, always inside your aircon car, so much to critisize and punish, but no one try to understand them and really solve the issue. Look at the photos, they are all stripped their clothes and lying on the floor like they killed someone. that's like a dog ...

Exactly, just open up some place so they can race legally, instead of treating them like criminals.

once you ride a bike and it's forever in your blood...

The powerful man who owns the Buri Ram track would not like another being built in Bangkok. He has spent a lot of money there and has made a great track. Would not need Bangkok competing with his show. On the plane the other day spoke to an Aussie who was with one of the Porche Carrera racing teams and he said they all thought the facilities up there were fantastic and really impressed. Leave the track thing to him. Conficate the bikes and crush them. They will soon get sick of buying and modifying new bikes due to cost. Stop using feather gloves on them and start using a big stick. They respect no one. Teach them respect.

He said they would be charged with reckless driving of motorcycles and causing a public disturbance, crimes that are punishable by up to three months in prison and/or Bt2,000Bt10,000 fine. He said their illegallymodified vehicles would also be impounded.

As for the 59 members under 18, their parents would be summoned and given an official warning about their behaviour.

Their information would be filed on record so they would be subject to legal action if they repeat the violations.

Where's the army when you really need them? blink.png

Exactly! the army in singapore a few years back now, rounded up a bike gang and chopped their bikes up and threw them on trucks.

Cars might be a bit harder I saw a mass of about 100 pickups yesterday stop at the old floating market Hua Hin so I left when they all stopped to get out of their way.

They were doing burn offs in the car park and I would not like to be on the road if they came up behind you.

It's very simple. Catch them racing. Take their bikes and impound if for 6 months. Catch them again and crush them with a steam roller.

I caught about 15 of them yesterday on their way from Cha Am to Hua Hin. I was doing my usual 105 km/h and indicating to move to the left lane when half of a horde of motorcyclists overtook even further left and the other half in the centre lane.

Statistics: 30% of them had no license plates, 30% had them but angled in a way under the mud flaps that you wouldn't be able to see them collecting dirt and the remaining 40% had plates coloured in a way that it was difficult to read unless you had some very expensive binoculars.

100% of the riders were travelling at speeds of 150-170% of usual highway speed limits waving in and out of lanes.

10% of riders gave me the middle finger when I couldn't leave my fingers of the horn.

Bon voyage

Fritz

PS: Have to say that in Hua Hin at least this culture of lawlessness is injected into school kids at an early stage. Unchallenged by the police as 14-year-olds drive their motorcycles, mainly in school uniforms without helmets weaving from lane to lane. You get the feeling that some of them hone their genes here to become the bad boys glorified in movies.

I think you may have a point. Yesterday I heard a loud rasping noise moving up and down outside and turned some little kid had flattened a plastic water bottle and stuck it between his little bike wheel and the frame to emulate a motorbike blink.png He couldn't have been more than seven or eight. Good example to the younger kids these racers set.

You're a brave guy Fritz.

Many would advise a little more caution when dealing with a pack that large. You may feel secure in the air con safety of your automobile, but it only takes a dozen to circle round and you could be in trouble. African wild dogs can bring down large game if there's enough of them. A pack of angry dek wan can be dangerous.

Don't get involved. You will lose, one way or the other.

Young street racers to be prosecuted in court today

36-wpcf_728x413.jpg

BANGKOK: -- Vibhavadi station police today escorted 119 young street racers to Bangkok North Municipal Court for prosecution after they defied traffic law and order of the military junta.

A total of 185 youths were rounded up by Vibhabadi and metropolitan police yesterday on Vibhavadi Rangsit highway after trying to drive in large groups to Nakhon Nayok.

The gathering by these young street racers in front of Bang Khen railway station on Vibhavadi Rangsit yesterday morning caused traffic to a standstill as they occupied all lanes of the highway.

Vibhabadi police said of the 185 youths they apprehended, 119 are drivers and the rest are pillion riders.

These 119 youths will be charged with driving their motorcycles with no regard to the safety of other road users.

The police will summon parents of the pillion riders for briefing of their behaviour and have their profiles booked.

If they are caught again in future of same offences, their parents will be held responsible, police said.

For those 119 youths, the charge carries a maximum 3-month imprisonment, and a fine of 3,000-10,000 baht.

The police said other charges will also be filed, including having no driving licences, modification of their vehicles for racing, and illegal gathering in public places.

Parents of these youths will now have to place cash bonds with the court for temporary release if the court accepts the charges filed with them today.

Interesting statistics you quickly compiled from the "15" motorcycles. So, who was the .5 rider out of the 1.5 that gave you the finger? :)

I passed a police checkpoint on Rama 3 Road last Saturday around 12am, few seconds later a group of teen bikers race passed my car, wonder if it's like "no money then no blocking/catching" to the polices.
