Exporting private vehicle to Oz

Featured Replies

Hi there,

Can anyone advise on a transport company that handles exporting a private vehicle from Thailand to Australia. I've tried a couple but both said they don't have agents in Thailand. I'm happy to drive down to Singapore if that makes it easier. Just curious should I want to take my BT50 back at a later stage. Any input appreciated!

Cheers

Most replies on previous threads will tell you to sell the vehicle before you leave and save yourself a load of time hassle and money.

Stoneyboy.. Yeh mate have seen a few of those was just curious to crunch the numbers if I want to keep the car. But cheers

Does your BT50 have the exact same spec's as the Australian one's? If not it's going to be difficult to sell.. But probably even more difficult to register in Oz.

I haven't cross referenced the specs but I know it doesn't have a heater which would definitely be an issue in the south!!

Vehicles will devalue much faster there so I'm not sure it is worth it. I think I did look into that using an internet search many years ago and shipping was about 5000 dollars. I think you can find the information if you google it.

Don't waste your time and money, used cars here are cheap, BMW and Mercs start around $62,000 brand new, any thing else you can slash 50% of the cost price 3 meters outside the showroom on pick up.

And yes would need to meet Australian standards for registration.

There has been a revolution here starting in late 90's in terms of used cars and now with the GM Ford and Toyota shutting up shop, tariff cuts so low most European brands are flocking in Mercedies have or will realise a number of models never seen here before, and the general trend is towards new and Euro cars.

Importing a used car makes no economical sense in current climate here.
