Hi everyone my name is jay, and I have a few questions I would like to ask, and if anyone could answer them to best of their knowledge that would be great many thanks.

I am travelling to Thailand from the UK at the end of November, I will be backpacking around to stay at various meditation retreats and monasteries, I was wondering what visa would be best for me, double entry or triple entry? If I am leaving end of November when would be the best time to send off for my visa to Thai Embassy in London? Would I have to send my travel documents with passport or just the passport? I know I get 60 days for my first visit so do I have to pay for the 30 day extension at immigration or is it free? If I do have to pay for extension how much is it?

Thank you for taking the time to read & any answers would be greatly appreciated.

If you want to stay up to 180 day double entry is fine, fore more you need triple entry.

Each extension cost Bt 1,900. You do not need to send any document.

Many thanks for answering, can I get the extension from immigration at Suvarnabhumi Airport? Also would you know how long approx it takes to get visa back from Thai Embassy?

No, extension are obtained at Immigration offices, taking from 30 minutes to few hours. Thai embassy processes visa next business day if you visit in person.

Ok many thanks, I will be sending for my visa by post but not sure how long it takes to be processed? I have been to Thailand before but this is the first time I will be going on a double entry visa. Would you know if the visa starts from the time it is processed at embassy or the day that you enter Thailand?

They will issue or mail back the visa the visa next business day, as mentioned above.

The initial 60 days start when you enter Thailand.

If you intend to use all the possible visa stay is best to obtain the visa at the last possible time.

No problem. Just to make it clear, I should have written " mail back your passport with visa".
