THAI delays cancellation of BKK-Rome route to next Feb, welcoming Rome's high season

BANGKOK, 12 August 2015 (NNT) - Thai Airways International (THAI) has decided to postpone the cancellation of a loss-making route to Rome, Italy, from late Oct this year to February 2016 as the month of October is high season in Rome.

Thai Airways President Charamporn Jotikasthira said the Bangkok-Rome route suspension would be delayed and THAI would join hands with the Tourism Authority of Thailand to launch a marketing promotion campaign for the route.

THAI has planned to reschedule the route to four flights a week, using Boeing 747-400.

However, the airline president confirmed that the route cancellation was just temporary and it would resume after a restructuring plan. He also expressed confidence that Thai Airways’ Bangkok-Rome route would become lucrative.

Thai charges aprox. 50,000 baht for economy BKK-ROM, while air France, al Italia and BA, charges

aprox. 30,000 baht all inclusive albeit with a short stop over in their respective hubs... and this is

why Thai is not and will be not a viable options to other regular airlines and much less to LLC air

lines....

Are any of their routes profitable?

President Porn keeps saying the cancelled routes will eventually be reinstated, but he keeps selling planes off.

1+1+3

Why do i get the feeling this decision might be related to the holiday plans of high-up Thai officials and their family who refuse to pay for a ticket with another airline?

So October is high season in Rome and they were planning to cancel the route right after high season. But now they want to continue for another 4 months AFTER high season? Did Thai make a profit in these months in previous years? OIf not better cancel asap because a lame TAT campaign will not save the day.

Weird. Who on earth would want to go to Rome in Nov/Dec/Jan/Feb? Weather not good.

Ok, there's Xmas at the Vatican, but how many Thais would turn up for that? (Surely not enough Catholics in Thailand with change jangling in their pockets to fill even one 747???)

THAI Airways is about to collapse due to mismanagement - No Company can survive giving away its product to corrupt freeloaders ... Only survival for THAI will be to hire a foreign CEO that can clean up this mess but wont happen so

RIP THAI Airways

does anyone overthere has the brains to check the competition ?

or is that not done

it is not that they learn something like that in school, stuff like initiative, competition, service, ...

well, when you got your job because not what you know or can do, but thank to whom you know ...

.

I'm not sure, just guessing here, but maybe it's for the Italians to vacation in LOS during that cold part of the year?
