Opposition’s Map Moves May Backfire, Analyst Warns

PHNOM PENH (Khmer Times) – A leading analyst on the controversial issue of demarcating the border with Vietnam yesterday warned that the opposition’s refusal to agree that the maps it is using are the same as the government’s could backfire.

Ou Virak, founder of Future Forum think tank, said the findings by a border research team at the Royal Academy of Cambodia this week should end bickering between the government and the Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP).

But the CNRP refused to recognize the findings because it did not have a representative present to verify the research team’s findings, despite being invited to send one along.
