Isnt there a concession for married persons applying whereas the income required is 40K ?

No. Most reports I have seen is that they want a minimum of 50k baht to accept the application.

If a person married to a Thai is working with a work permit and paying taxes on an income of 40k baht or more for 3 years they can apply for citizenship without getting PR first.

Not income. Salary/wages. Only income from working counts.

read and write Thai too

Plus be able to sing the Thai national anthem.!

Not for permanent residency. That is for citizenship if not married to a Thai.

Ok I was keeping this for next year but now that I saw this topic, does anyone know about the requirements when you're applying in the expert category (not business)? What I understand is that there is no minimum salary, although one still needs to be on the same non-o business visa and work permit for 3 consecutive years. I earn more than 50k but less than 80k, can read, write, and speak Thai fluently and of course sing the national anthem! Also I'm not married to a Thai citizen. Having a master's degree in electronics and working in an international BOI company do I have a chance to get a PR?

I think you will have to apply for PR under the business category. Every thing I have seen indicates you have to be working of the government or a state enterprise to apply under the expert category.

So if you are married to a Thai, have worked here for 4 years, paid tax, have a work permit, earn over 100k baht, don't speak or read Thai, can you apply for Thai citizenship.....don't you have to do 10 year PR first ?

Did you look at the guidelines I posted a link to.

3.2 Applicants with direct personal ties with Thailand, such as those married to a

Thai citizen, those with children who are Thai citizens, or those who

graduated from an institute of tertiary education in Thailand should have an

income of not less than 40,000 baht a month supported by a letter of

confirmation of monthly salary/income and must show evidence that they

have paid tax for not less than 3 years; or they should they should have paid

personal income tax of more than 50,000 baht per year for the 3 tax years

prior to their application for naturalization

For those not married to a Thai.

5. They should have been permanently resident in the Kingdom of Thailand for not less than 5 years counted from the date they received their Certificate of Residence,

More like 80k baht income.

Check the documents required here. http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/en/base.php?page=residence

My understanding is the same 80k and above
40k income. Because this is one option to be eligible for extension based on marriage which this extension needs to be done for 3 consecutive years without a break.

I suggest read through this topic Camerata's Guide to Permanent Residence you will find report that it is 50k or more if married to a Thai or they will not accept the application.. If they were going by actual rules it would be 30k baht.

The OP did not state what category he was asking about. If based upon working it is 80k baht.

Apparently you're right ubonjoe. Do I have any chance of getting the PR under the business category if I produce evidence of income of 65k, 70k, 75k per month for 3 consecutive years (bonus not included)? Most of the cases discussed on ThaiVisa either have way higher or way lower salary than this.
