catterwell
Some of those roads in the Dangrek mountain range are pretty hairy; the last time I was up there was in a well-serviced 4WD Toyota Land Cruiser.
canopus1969
Seems the Cambodians buy their buses at the same dealership as the Thais do

lvr181
The "gears failure"?? Where did the driver learn his/her skills? Before they at started school? Try using the brakes OR drive slower for the conditions. RIP to those killed and condolences to their families.
Maggusoil
The stories get more fantastic. For this tragedy the brakes and the gears failed at the same time.

I wonder what the standard excuse is in Burma.
Tomtomtom69
The standard excuse in Burma is bad luck and a haunted road (on the Yangon-Mandalay expressway) even though that road has a zillion times fewer accidents than any Thai or Cambodian road due to the low traffic volume and ban on trucks and motorcycles traveling that road. Sheryl
And in all 3 countries, don't forget the spirits. Hence the little roadside shrines at sharp curves and the like. To propiate the spirits assumed to have caused fatal accidents that took place there.
