Mailing Documents to the US quickly but cheaply

Featured Replies

I'm assuming that Mailboxes Etc will charge me an arm and a leg to send documents.

What other alternatives do I have to send mail, just documents, though a private carrier!

I'm guessing Fed Ex, DHL, UPS. The big names.

I've never seen a FedEx or UPS shop around here.

There are UPS and Fed Ex offices in bigger cities in Thailand.Just google it you will find them. You talk cheap.Mail isn't cheap

International.

http://www.fedex.com/th/dropoff/, absolutely amazing what a search will turn up.

It depends on what you mean cheap, and how important are the documents. I use FedEx at Nana Square when required, last time, about 800 Baht, and got there in a couple of days. 800 Baht may seem expensive, but it was about 3 times that amount for the return. That fee will change for fuel surcharge etc.

Alternative, just use the Thai postal system.

Registered Air--Cheap with tracking number

Use Post Office EMS service

A4 sized package of Documents by the Thai Post Office

Registered Air cost 298 baht.... with tracking number and signed for in UK 3 days later

same package if sent by EMS 1,400 baht...... with tracking number and signed for in UK 2 days.

I know use Registered Air, so far so good, have 2 more packages of documents to send tomorrow..

I thought EMS was about 900 to 1,000 baht last time I used it. Has it gone up so much?

2 days to the UK - you must be in Bangkok or near. Usually takes 36 hours (sometimes 18) just to get to my local amphur town then the regional airport then Swampy if I post it in my local village post office. Door to door is about 4 working days.

Just for, and seeking, info - not whininglaugh.png. Still a better option than I would expect from the back of beyond and substantially cheaper than (half-ish) courier prices for not much longer.

Yes, depends on what the O/P means by cheap, but I've found the Thai Post Office's Express Mail Service (EMS) to be reliable for both domestic and international mail.

I've also used various mail service shops/kiosk's for DHL/UPS/FedEx. If they are an approved agent for the courier services, they charged the published rates. I think they make their commission from the courier not by adding on an extra charge to the customer. Those same shops do charge customers an extra amount for Post Office services.

I've used a DHL office in Pattaya and seen one for UPS, so surely they would exist in Bangkok.

I have personally sent IRS tax returns to the U.S. by Thai Express registered Mail, and they got there fine.

Can be done at any Thai post office and a reciept is provided for you also.

Well, they exist. I can't really legislate for what you've seen or what you haven't though, sorry. You can use google though, it's pretty good at answering questions rather than waiting for other people to confirm what you don't know.
