The Trendy Condo Sukhumvit Soi 13

Featured Replies

Hi,

I will be moving to BKK soon and have been looking for apartments online. My office will be located at Trendy so my first thought was to get apartment from there(or nearby). Then I started Google things and read old thread with bit mixed opinios:

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/485793-is-the-trendy-condo-on-soi-13-a-good-place-to-live/

Most of the post are dated back to 2011 and lot of things might have changed since that. At least Hyde has been finished so the soi probably doesnt look like huge construction site anymore?

Does anybody have recent experience from living in Trendy? How is the soi and is it secure during nights? How is the property and common areas(pool, gym and sauna) maintained? Any bars nearby playing music distubingly loud after midnight? Any other reason why I should reconsider renting from there? Im aware that i will get better condo for cheaper if I take BTS to and from work. But it would be easy and convinient to stay close to office.

Some units can rented on a monthly basis so if you can find one of those you can give it a try for a month and see how you get on.

the first sign I ever saw in LOS, threatening a 2000 THB fine for urinating in public was/is located on that soi. Since the bars around there really started being terrible about five years ago, I do 7-11 beers, and stop by the Trendy Lobby to use the restroom. I think it is actually encouraged, and kind of a quid pro-quo, to discourage people from pissing along the soi. I lost my virginity at the Miami Hotel....LOL, no not really.

I wouldn't think it a particularly good idea to live in the same building where you work for many reasons.

The night time street life in that area extends to dawn. It's no secret that a significant number of illegal substance transactions happen in that area every night.

I think the suggestion that you rent short term and try it out is the best idea.

OP, go across the road to Soi 10, Sukhumvit Park

Its an older condo, but cheaper rents and many great rooms over looking the lake.

Sukhumvit park is located about the end of soi 10, so its quite and peaceful, no bars, no street walkers.

2 guards at night.
