DSD to raise the standards of vocational skills to match global recognition

BANGKOK, 17 August 2015 (NNT)-The Department of Skill Development (DSD) will be working in collaboration with educational institutions to raise the standards of vocational skills for Thai students, bringing them on a par with international standards.

Thailand has recently won one gold and one bronze medal at World Skills 2015 competition in Brazil. According to DSD Director General M.L. Boondarik Smithi, Thai students have also received 10 certificates of skill recognition from the contest.

He added that Thailand is the only nation in ASEAN to win a gold medal this year. However, he said the number of medals Thailand won has declined compared to those it grabbed in the previous competition as new technology has been introduced and stricter rules have been enforced.

One of the contestants, Mr. Danaikarn Srisuk, said everyone did their best at WorldSkills. They by no means feel discouraged by the results and will use their experiences and new ideas to improve the country.

Come on Zaphod. Don't be such a pessimist. I am watching a vdo of the types of skills they do there. Many of which an uneducated person could do with practise. Day 2 vdo shows sewing clothes and bricklaying, hairstyling, as well as arts and crafts. So this number of wins seems feasible for Thailand.

At this contest they use any skill needed for the future employment sector. So their could even be a rice planting skill? I don't know all of it. But surely some Thai memorized it fast enough to won some gold medals

What are we addressing here, winning gold medals or improving the education standard , one would think that raising the standard would be more than trying to win medals, the best part is are the education administration and the hard working teachers up to the task , when you teach something you must have a full grasp of the subject , teaching proper English and how to calculate Hexadecimal maths , might be stretching it a bit. coffee1.gif
