Where to buy finely ground oats / oat flour in Bangkok?

Featured Replies

Is there any store in Bangkok that sells oat flour in bulk? Back in farangland I used to get these "instant oats" in 5kg bags from an online supplement store. These are so finely ground, that you can easily mix them into a cold protein shake to add some slow carbs into it. A perfect healthy addition for a home made weight gainer shake.. I consume around 5kg/month of these instant oats.

So far I have only seen bigger and smaller oats in tiny bags, but none in flour or big quantities (Big C, Lotus etc.). They do have instant oats but it still isn't properly ground, so not suitable to mix with cold water.

Thais dont eat Oats (in general) so there is only a small market for it and that means small bags with massive prices , 5kg bags wouldn't exist.

A rice based alternative if there is one is your best bet

Thanks for the info.

I can't really think of any good alternative, as rice cannot be eaten raw. Otherwise ground brown rice would perhaps do the trick..

I buy instant oats and fast cooking oats in Foodland. Also bought from several other shops like Big C, Villa, etc. In the breakfast food area. The instant oats are ground pretty fine.

400 gram bags for 38-42 baht, so I don't bother looking for bulk. McGarret's is the brand (I think)

Villa has quite a few different flours available, but I've never seen them in bulk, and I haven't looked for oat flour.

Here's a photo...

I would visit a thai health food restaurant and ask....Ariya Cafe is a good place to check...or maybe even Rasayana Retreat.
