Crime Man Assaults Woman Over Social Media Dispute Involving Pregnant Wife
Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A heated online feud between two women escalated into real-world violence after the partner of one of the women attacked her rival at a residence in Buriram Province. The incident, which took place in the village of Khok Mai Daeng, Samrong Mai sub-district, Lahan Sai district, has sparked widespread debate on Thai social media after footage of the altercation was circulated online. The victim, Ms. Siriprapa, 20, reported that the incident occurred on 11 July while she was visiting a friend’s house in Moo 9 of the same sub-district. A friend recorded a video of the attack out of concern for her safety. In the footage, Mr. Chit, the husband of the woman Siriprapa had been arguing with online, is seen arriving at the house and physically assaulting her. He allegedly pushed her to the ground and grabbed her by the neck twice. According to Ms. Siriprapa, the conflict began after repeated arguments between her and Mr. Chit’s wife, Ms. Mai, on Facebook. The situation escalated when Mai accused her of having romantic feelings for Chit, an allegation Siriprapa denies and says prompted her to go to their home to resolve the matter in person. She also filmed her visit for her own protection. Mr. Chit, 28, later admitted to the assault. He told reporters he lost his temper after what he described as ongoing harassment of his pregnant wife on social media. He claimed he had previously asked both women to end their feud, but the taunts continued. Chit said his wife, now four months pregnant, had called him after Siriprapa allegedly entered their property uninvited. Upon arrival, he was provoked by verbal abuse and acted out of frustration and concern for his wife’s well-being. Authorities are now investigating the incident. Ms. Siriprapa is reportedly seeking compensation for the assault and has stated she wishes to have no further contact with either party. Adapted by Asean Now from Khaosod 2025-07-15 -
