I've seen various mentions of it on Facebook and elsewhere in recent months, and kind of figured someone would post on it here... but haven't seen anything yet. So I guess I will.

Looks like the long promised Hooters is finally on the verge of opening in Bangkok. They have their location, in the Four Points Sheraton Hotel in Suk Soi 15, near where the lately-closed BeerVault pub/restaurant has operated these past few years.

I had seen where they've been recruiting girls/women recently, and had held recruiting fairs at the Sheraton. But it wasn't clear until recently that that also was going to become their new Bangkok restaurant location.

How close are they getting? Well, as I was walking down Suk Road this afternoon on the way home, coming in the opposite direction down the sidewalk was a gaggle of Hooters girls wearing their trademark orange short shorts and white t-shirts handing out flyers about their new BKK home.

No mention of Hooters on the BKK Sheraton website or its Facebook page as far as I can see. But there's already a Hooters Bangkok Facebook page that lists Sept. 18 as their grand opening date, and has posts indicating the crew of girls have already been out and around elsewhere in BKK doing their promoting.

Their Facebook page also has an Aug. 21 post saying they're hiring Thai and non-Thai candidates for their Bangkok, Phuket and Pattaya locations.

Oddly enough, I saw there was a ThaiVisa thread back in 2004 saying a Hooters was coming to BKK, but AFAIK, those plans never came to fruition.

And right now, if you look at the Hooters Asia website itself, they're talking about plans to open quite a few other Thailand locations, several in the next month or two (Pattaya and Samui) and others with unspecified dates (Silom/BKK, Chiang Mai and Khon Kaen), in addition to the already open location in Phuket.

I believe you'd want to be taken to Dr. BJ's Salon in nearby Suk Soi 7/1...

I believe they have "nurses" there that can take care of you appropriately.

I've never been to a Hooters in the U.S., and never really felt any great need to go.

But I'm told, one of the attractions of the places, other than the obvious, is the friendliness and interaction between the waitresses and the customers.

Which will be interesting to see how that goes here, since Thai restaurant/waitress service generally seems to be pretty much on the diffident side.

There is Sukumvit hospital beside Ekkamai BTS. Hooters girls can carry your friends to the BTS and the Nurses can collect them at Ekkamai. Although that could lead to another heart attack

I just read the qualifications to apply for a Hooters Girl on the Asia website -- ages 19 - 29 so luckily for me the TGF is 32 as she has all the necessary hardware to get a Hooters Girl job in the USA let alone here in Thailand.

Interesting. There's a TV thread on the plans for a Pattaya Hooters, and if I'm reading it right, the posters there seem to be talking about a Beach Road project that would be a new construction building -- one that hasn't actually started any construction as yet.

There also appears to be a Hooters in the works on Beach Rd in Pattaya, although it's a long way from opening. I guess this is what's called progress. Wonder what their menu will include. A multistorey McDonalds is also being built. All we need is a Fuddruckers to seal the deal.

It might be a good idea if the Hooters girls handing out promo leaflets waited until the place was actually open. Very Thai - "Sir, there's a new restaurant called Hooters." "Great. I'll come along." "Sorry sir, not open."

McDonald's, Hooters and TGI Fridays... First signs of any given place in the world going to corporate tourist chain hell.

I hope the 1st requirement was to produce an original birth certificate proving they were born with those parts and not just had them installed/uninstalled later in life.
