MOTS gears up tourists confidence reaffirmation

BANGKOK, 26 August 2015 (NNT) – The Ministry of Tourism and Sports (MOTS) is set to stimulate confidence among international tourists, revealing that subsidies for victims have already reached all casualties, the MOTS Minister says.

The Minister of Tourism and Sports Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul has revealed that the Thai government has been providing help and assistance to the injured tourists and the deceased in the Bangkok bombing incident, and has allocated a total of 3.6 million baht subsidy to the relatives of all 12 casualties.

The subsidy was partly sponsored by the Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA) at a sum of 4 million baht, and the Sirivadhanabhakdi Foundation provided an assistance of 2 million baht.

The MOTS Minister has said that the incident is expected to cause only short-term effects to the tourism sector, while the nation’s tourism campaigns are expected to be carried out as normal and reach the projected goals.

The MOTS has also planned various tourism stimulation measures, to be implemented from today until year end, to introduce Thai tourism and attractions to new markets, and to regain the confidence of international travelers.

On this matter, the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO)’s Deputy Secretary-General Carlos Vogevler has said that the international community shares their understanding about the situation in Thailand, and are still confident in Thailand’s tourism sector.

He added that the international community is also impressed by the cooperation and assistance provided from all sectors in Thailand.

Speaking for other countries again, I see.

What a bunch of clowns these people are. Yes, I think the world is starting to understand Thailand, but not in the way Thailand thinks they are.

The brain trust at MOTS believes that publicizing their financial assistance to the families of tourists blown up in Thailand will help restore confidence.

Come to Thailand. Experience the violence. Your family will appreciate the extra cash. Return tickets nonrefundable.

Quote ""Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA) at a sum of 4 million baht, and the Sirivadhanabhakdi Foundation provided an assistance of 2 million baht.""

Quote "" allocated a total of 3.6 million baht subsidy""

And the unaccounted 2.4 million Baht went where ?

Quote ""He added that the international community is also impressed by the cooperation and assistance provided from all sectors in Thailand.""

International Community impressed ?? Impressed with what ?? Can this be backed up in any way ?

There were 20 total deaths. If you divide 3.6 million by 12 and 2.4 million by 8, you get the same number (300,000 baht). Just yesterday the PM said the money should be spent evenly between all victims. Hopefully, that explains where the money went.

Just so I understand this.

Tourist confidence should be reaffirmed because the family of the 12 foreigners that died have been compensated already?

I guess its good to know that if I get blown to bits in Thailand that my family will have enough money to put a deposit on a Honda Jazz within a week...assuming there is money left over after having my body parts sent home via Fedex in multiple packages.

Yeah, that news should bring tourists back...
