Changing school after getting 90 days non B visa outside Thailand

Featured Replies

Dear All friends and members,

I got my non B visa with the help of my current school(stayed for 6 weeks), still the work permit process and the visa extension process is not yet started. In the meantime, I got a job offer from another school and I already accepted the offer but my previous school is threatening by saying that they will cancel my non B visa.

Is it possible for the school to cancel my Non B visa ?

Is there a way that I can transfer my previous non B visa to my new school without leaving the country? I really don't want to go outside the country to get another non B visa. I am really worried and I look forward to hear from you friends

No they cant cancel the B visa, they are confused

From my Experience you need a new Non B, with W.P. documents supporting the employer. Work Permits are specific to work location, locations.

The W.P. should have been processed in 7 days with supporting documents from the school/employer.

How did you get the Non B with out a W.P.?

You don't need a WP to get a Non B, you need proof the WP has been applied for, not quite the same thing

The OP implied that the WP hasn't been applied for!

The Non Immigrant 'B' visa process is different for teachers, in this case a WP application does not need to be filed prior to the visa application - see MFA Guidance Notes 2.4 in the link below:

http://www.mfa.go.th/main/en/services/4908/15388-Non-Immigrant-Visa-%22B%22-(for-Business-and.html

If the School that was supporting your non b application is not named on the visa then it can be used for a WP application at a new school..

Either way your original employer cannot cancel a non immigrant 'b' visa issued out side of Thiland, but they certainly would be p...d off with your leaving after just 6 weeks.

Hello,

What I had to do was I first went up to the Thai Embassy in Vientiane, Laos

to apply for a Non-B visa for teaching, got back to Thailand to apply for a WP

and then went to the local immigration office for a 1-year extension.

I thought getting a non b was quite difficult (for non-teachers)

my neighbour has just formed his own Thai company to be able to get a work permit. He just got his non-B but hasn't got his work permit yet when presumably he will have to show his small company has 2 million baht capital and that he is paying the salary and taxes of four Thai people.

I had read somewhere on this forum that usually you have to get the work permit first.

For non teachers applying for a Non Immigrant type 'B' visa in the SE Asian Region you need to have filed a Work Permit application prior, but the WP itself is only issued once you return to labour with a new 90 day Non 'B' Stamp in your passport obtained once the non 'B' visa is issued.
