Mr Viroj was convicted by the Supreme Court’s criminal division for political office holders on Wednesday of malfeasance in office for approving loans amounting to 9.9 billion baht companies affiliated with Krisdamahanakorn company despite the fact that the companies were classified as non-performing debtors by the KTB.

Mr Viroj was sentenced to 18 years imprisonment along with Mr Suchai Jaovisidha, former chairman of the bank. Seven other bank officials involved in the loan deals and executives of companies benefiting from the deals were also jailed ranging from 12-18 years.

Two other convicts, Mr Boonlert Sricharoen who has heart and liver problems and diabetes and Mr Subin Saengsuwanmetha who has liver problem were also admitted to the same hospital.

The hospital rooms are reserved for vip prisoners, air con, special food, tv. You get it.

Maybe he can bunk up with Somchai "Kamnan Poh" in Chonburi Hospital so they can entertain each other in the evenings with nostalgic tales about the good 'ole times.

Credit where credit is due, instead of knocking what's going on at least give them credit for not distinguishing between "white collar" crime and that of the "working classes". Where I come from very very seldom is a white collar criminal (like Bankers) ever put behind bars.

heart problems, liver problems, diabetes...

years of excessive 'good life' are now paying dividends to the bankers

Most male Thais living on somtam and lao khao in the villages would be that bad or maybe worse at the age of 68, he's already on borrowed time compared to the Thai average life expectancy stats

I would find it near impossible to believe that Kaman Poh has spent more than a night away from his home since he was admitted to 'prison hospital', other than on holidays of course.

I like the quote "sudden heart problem" isn't that normally called a heart attack ?

Exactly, a heart attack or a pre-existing condition only discovered when the cell door clanged ?

Amazing how many ' VIP prisoners ' suddenly take ill when incarcerated.

Nothing too trivial I hope.

Big coincidence, seems to happen always to those gig shots that go to jail

Another coincidence is that at that period 12 years ago, PTT made a public offering to sell it's shares but when the public who had queued all night were told the next morning all the shares had been snapped up by politicians meaning Thaksin and his mates so now we know where to 10 billion baht went. A bright Thai investigative reporter should be asking PTT to make public a list of their shareholders. Once again the Thai public has been ripped off by these selfish Thai scumbag "politicians" whose only ambition is to to enrich themselves at the expense of the country. Now, if the General pressures PTT to release these shares, plus interest, the ordinary Thai may have a chance.
