Insurance broker

Featured Replies

Can anyone recommend an honest and competent insurance broker in Bangkok or Pattaya?

Many thanks!

Does the latter company have a Thai license? Because that would be required to sell Thai insurance

No idea, you'd have to ask them.

But they do not in any case sell policies, Thai or otherwise. They provide information and advice. Purchase of policy is directly between insuree and insurance company.

I'm asking because IMO an advice for a certain broker who might not be allowed to sell Thai insurance policies on a Thai forum would be peculiar.

From their website I can see they have an office in Bangkok, but they don't mention anywhere they can sell insurance in Thailand. This "Purchase of policy is directly between insuree and insurance company." is clearly not correct, they are the ones selling the insurance. So taking that into acclount, I suspect they are not allowed to sell Thai insurance, so are selling international insurance, and if Thai insurance is required they will only advice and leave the buying process to insuree and insurance company.

Therefore, based on their website, I would not recommend them on a Thailand forum.

They do not sell international insurance policies.

I used them in deciding on which international policy to buy (international at my request, not because they did not also have information on local policies). They provided detailed comparison charts and advice. That was it. The policy itself I directly purchased from the insurance company.

AFAIK that is the normal way for an insurance broker to operate. I do not really see how an independent broker could directly sell an insurance policy.

No, that's not the normal way. Normally the broker will give you advice, and for that advice get paid a commission from the insurance policy he sells you.
