Trying VOA for the first time. Only have a $100 US note. Probably sounds miserly but will they give change? The fee is $45 and has to be paid US dollars. Could only get a 100 note locally

You can pay in Baht but it will cost more.

Dunno about change....I'm sure they will but you will get screwed I am guessing.

everything I read says US dollars or Dong only? Are u sure.

They give change in US$ but it is probably easier to hit a money changer and get smaller bills before you go and save any delays. Also, if this c-note is an old one that you have had for years (?), you need to check if it's still legal tender as the US changes them frequently to combat countefeiting and old bills become worthless. The VN Immigration will know which ones are and aren't acceptable too.

I have seen them accept Euro's when push came to shove but it's easy enough to get benjamins so why not?

Since they publish that it's either dollars or VND, change for a $100 shouldn't be a problem.....unless everyone brings $100 bills. And yes, they'll definitely give you change, if not in dollars then in VND. Should be about a million VND in change, give or take.

For anyone interested. I did the visa on arrival thing. Had my documents, a photo and $50 US ready. All pretty easy took about 30 minutes. Only thing I didn't like is they take Ur passport whilst Ur filling out the forms. I saw them taking armfuls away to another office to get the visa put in. Then they call Ur name wen ready. Bit scary if u weren't paying attention anyone could go and get Ur passport
