NCPO continues security work to assure safety in Thailand

BANGKOK, 9 September 2015 (NNT) - The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) said during its televised statement today that all security units will continue to work to assure the safety of Thais and tourists.


NCPO Spokesperson Colonel Winthai Suwaree said security officials continue to work to boost confidence in Thailand's safety for foreigners and locals alike.

Meanwhile, Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) Deputy Director-General Supakit Phopapapan said his department has invoked the 2007 Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Act in dealing with the aftermath of the Ratchaprasong blast.

DDPM officials have visited those affected by the explosion and provided financial assistance, which has been allocated according to Ministry of Finance guidelines.

Each blast victim that received hospital treatment for longer than three days will be entitled to 3,000 baht in financial aid, as well as another 2,000 baht in compensation.

Families of the deceased, both Thai and foreign national, will be given 25,000 baht for funeral expenses. If the deceased was a breadwinner of the family, an additional 20,000 baht will be presented to the family.

Disgusting.

So, if you are hospitalised for 5 days you get 5000 baht, the same as if you are hospitalised for 25 days.

I think the cops that received the 3 million bahts should man up and donate the money to the victims. Now that would impress the h*ll out of me. I know just being my delusional self again forgive me. Greed trumps generosity every time here.

The Act states in Section 4: Herein the act;

“Disaster” means any of these disasters; fire, storm, strong wind, flood, drought, epidemic inhuman, epidemic in animals, epidemic in aquaculture, and epidemic in plants and other public disastereither natural disasters or human-made disasters, accidents or all other incidents that effect to life, body or properties of the people, of the government. And in this regards, air threats and sabotages are also included.

“Sabotage” means any disasters affected from any activities aim to destroy to private or government properties, public utilities, or activities of offensive, deterrence, delay to any operations including of any harmful actions toward persons which will create a political, economical and social

disturbance or damage to national security as a whole.

Sabotage does not sound like personal revenge that Prayut says was the motivation for the Shrine bombing.
