Is it time for new gas hob?

In the last few days my gas flames have taken on a life of their own.

The left ring although a blue flame has moment of blowing like a car exhaust with a hole in it and now only seems to use 3/4 of the ring.

The right ring is just a yellow useless and dangerous dancing flame.

Today i decided to give the underside a good clean and try to work out how the adjuster wheels affect the flame. The blue flame seemed to improve slightly but the same setting on tge yellow flame nothing happened.

When i turn off the yellow flame...guess what....it carries on burning like a pilot light.

Logic tells me there is a hole in the burner supply pipe allowing it to burn with more oxygen hence the yellow flame but i dont know.

Any bright ideas or time for a new cooker. This one two year old but been outside all that time.

Yellow is too little air / too much gas.

When ours did that I cleared a small gecko from the mixer pipe.

Time to dismantle and clean.

Second that.

If you unbolt everything you will see were the gas injector squirts into the burner itself. Last two times I had this problem it was the same issue. A tiny spider making a web inside the injector tube. Simply clean and good for another hundred thousand miles.

Tomorrows job then. I will report back to advise if i can go one better than a jingjok or spider.

This morning using my hand as a backhoe to ckean out my drain trench i scooped out a live scorpion so anything is possible.

Completely dismantled the hob today; hoping to find a snake; that beats a jingok or a spider eh?

but I didn't. no actual obvious reason for the problem, but I gave everything a bit of a de grease with the wifes toothbrush and a bit of a broddle with some meat skewers.

If there was a reason for the problem, I actually think I could have saved myself a dismantle job as some of the burner slots in the ring appeared to be greased up.

However put it all back together and kept my finger crossed for success.

....and yes, blue flame back again; the two adjustment wheels underneath seemed to have some influence as well this time.

So; cooking with gas again!

Of course photos and a bit of elaboration on my CTH story in due course.

thanks for help....learned something new today!

Yes, look for spidy up the pipe. Happened with us a couple of times.

I had a cooker like the one in your photos- never burned properly, so bought a Lucky Flame and it works well.

That reminds me of the time I saw hundreds of red ants hauling a dead scorpion vertically upwards to their nest in a tree. Amazing to see.post-56220-0-88537700-1442539808_thumb.j

Interesting to see all the highso farangs here with their 3 burner hobs.

3 burners...we used to dream of 3 burners...

Thats why I bought it; to show off a bit but in 2yrs never used it because when you have the other two rings in use you cannot fit anything on the back one. Most ridiculous design ever.

But at least i can say i have 3 rings.

Obviously it's only for small things like a coffee pot or similar. I don't think I ever used mine either, though I bought it because I thought it was a quality product. Sadly disappointed in that and a cheaper Lucky Flame is better.

I have an otto two burner stainless steel jobbie. Bought it at supercheap for about 1kthb if i recall. I cook as a hobby and have hammered the otto over the last five years. It is still going strong, so on my experience I would have to recommend it.
