Two missing Thais in Mecca crane tragedy found

BANGKOK: -- Two Thais that initially went missing following Friday's Mecca crane collapse have been found in two hospitals, the Thai Hajj Affairs Office announced.

The office announced that the two Thai women were located at 7 pm Sunday.

One of them was identified as Tuanya-imah Na-nakhon who suffered from ankle and leg injuries. The other was identified as Phisa Duangdol, who was injured at the back of her neck, left shoulder and back.

The office said the incident saw three Thais killed and two others injured.

Volcano in southern Japan erupts, sending smoke into the air

NCPO: relevant agencies continuing to aid victims of Ratchaprasong blast

BANGKOK, 14 September 2015 (NNT) – The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) has reported on the progress being made in the rehabilitation of those injured from the blast in Ratchaprasong and the families of the deceased.


NCPO spokesperson Colonel Winthai Suwaree announced that relevant agencies were caring for Thai and foreign persons afflicted by the incident at the busy Bangkok intersection to the fullest extent.

According to the spokesman, the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security has presented the victims with flowers and assistance money, and expressed its condolences for the victims and their families. The ministry's operations center was following the status of the victims around the clock, and was continually dispatching its personnel to visit the Thai and foreign victims.

Col. Winthai said relevant agencies have also been told to continue assisting the injured.

SEZ talks held in Trat province

TRAT, 14 September 2015, (NNT) - Trat province held a seminar on Sunday, establishing a Special Economic Zone (SEZ), border and international trade, and educating vendors seeking opportunities in the border area.


The talks, which were chaired by Trat Governor Narong Thirachanthrangkul, were organized by the provincial commerce office, and the Department of International Trade Promotion. People attending the event included local business entrepreneurs, government officials, members of the private sector and local village chiefs.

The provincial commerce office indicated that the talks aimed to educate vendors about trade and investment opportunities after the establishment of the SEZ, especially in border trade. The office pointed out that the value of border trade in Trat had evidently increased annually. The border area attracts entrepreneurs from Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam, making it a lucrative business venue.

Traffic congestion reported after bridge closure at Kaset Intersection

BANGKOK, 14 September 2015 (NNT) - Traffic has been congested around Kaset Intersection, after the bridge was closed for sky train construction.


While regular traffic conditions persist for outbound vehicles on Phahonyothin Road, inbound motorists toward Ratchayothin Intersection have reportedly been stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic jams.

Traffic police have been deployed and traffic lights adjusted to mitigate the congestion. Buses on routes 26, 129 and 107 have been forced to take detours, following the bridge closure.

Commuters have been advised to avoid Kaset Intersection and roads in its vicinity and instead take Viphavadi and Ramintra Roads.

Missing Thais in Saudi crane tragedy located at hospital

BANGKOK: -- Two Thai pilgrims who were earlier reported missing in Mecca crane tragedy last week have been located.

Culture Minister Veera Rojpojanaratna said today that the two missing Thais have been found.

He said the crane collapse tragedy left 107 dead, and over 300 injured.

He said one Thai woman identified as Mrs Wanida Sadee was killed and four others injured.

Her body was buried in accordance with the Islamic religion there.

Meanwhile the Thai Hajj Affairs Office said the two missing Thais were found yesterday at hospital.

As The Nation reported, one of them was identified as Tuanya-imah Na Nakhon who suffered from ankle and leg injuries. The other was identified as Phisa Duangdol, who was injured at the back of her neck, left shoulder and back.

This year Saudi Arabia has granted visas for 10,400 Thai pilgrims to Mecca.

The last batches of Thai pilgrims will leave for Mecca on September 16-17.

The first batch of pilgrims will return to Thailand on September 28 at Suvarnabhumi airport.

Cloud-seeding operations continue over Central Plains

NAKHON SAWAN, 14 September 2015, (NNT) – The Royal Rainmaking Center has expedited cloud-seeding over the Central Plains, following reports of low water levels across national reservoirs.


Nakhon Sawan’s Royal Rainmaking Center has chartered four planes to conduct operations to bring more water to Nong Bueng Reservoir, as well as farmland in Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chainat and Phetchabun provinces.

The Royal Rainmaking Center has conducted 864 flights over 73 days, dispersing 691 tons of cloud-seeding chemicals. It will continue operations until weather conditions become less favorable.

Technology Show tomorrow aimed at encouraging Thai entrepreneurs to greater application of innovative research

BANGKOK, 14 September 2015 (NNT) – The National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) is to hold another Technology Show tomorrow at the Sukosol Hotel in Bangkok after receiving a good response in the first event.


The Show is held under the cooperation between NSTDA and eight research and educational institutes. It aims to encourage application of academic researches for commercial purposes. Thai private businesses will learn about potential researches that can be used in adding value to their existing products or lead to other innovative goods. It is expected that research progress and application will increase Thailand’s competitiveness in the world’s market.

Thai court upholds death sentence of man who raped and murdered young girl on train
