Hey guys,

I'm currently in Thailand with my brother, and we both have a 60 day tourist visa (single entry) that we applied for back home in the UK.

Our original plan was to come for 3 months, by extending our current visa for 30 days without having to leave the country.

Currently a month in and we both agreed to stay here longer than planned if at all possible. We feel an additional 6 months would be ideal based on budget but not sure of the best way to stay here without risk of being rejected at the border.

Is it possible to get the same visa two more times, and extend it by 30 days each time?
If so what would be the most efficient way to do it?
If not, what can we do?

Appreciate any advice, thanks.

You can obtain a double entry tourist visa in a neighbouring country.

Vientiane in Laos is usually the best place to do so.

You will need to stay overnight in Laos to pick up your passport the following day after you submit your application.

1000 baht per entry.

Also you will need to obtain a visa on arrival in Laos, many people tend to use Nong Khai as opposed to flying to minimise the cost.

Just by way of interest

How is it possible to contemplate further extending a planned stay of 3 months to 9 months?

No jobs , responsibilies or committements at home ?

I made over 100,000 USD in my 20's and took a long vacation. Nobody knew how i could take so much time off work........they were working for peanuts for the man.

then i sold a business for 400,000.....and you don't tell anyone in Thailand about that...

and i met someone who was given 500,000 from their parents.......

should they give it back????

I came here on a single entry tourist visa in 1997 with a first class return ticket. It's now 2015 and I'm still here and have never left the country other than entering a neighbouring country to fulfil visa requirements. Responsibilities and commitments at home were all taken care of on the internet or by phone.

He wants Savanakhet, not Vientiane. Savanakhet is much easier.

Hello,

I know a Dutch couple who have been living in Thailand on their 3rd

double entry TV and have got all the 3 TVs in Savannakhet no problem

so this would be the best place.

Good luck.

Thanks for all the replies!

I'm really sorry but I am struggling to understand fully how this works.

Here's where I'm at:

Before my 90 days is up, I go to Savanakhet. Is that by bus or do I need to fly out?
Do I just show up at the Thai Embassy there, or do I need an appointment?
Do I fly back in to Thailand, or can I get a bus back?
Once I have the double entry visa...
I can stay for another 90 days,
Once that expires, I just leave the country and return to gain another 90 days without having to apply for a third visa right?

Sorry, this is all just completely new to me.

You can leave by air or land to go the Thai consulate in Savannakhet to apply for the visa. Same for your return trip.

No appointment is needed. You apply by 11 am and pick up your passport the next afternoon at 2 pm.

Savannakhet is across the Mekong river from the city of Mukdahan.

Flights to Savannakhet from BKK are expensive and the schedule is not good because the one flight a day arrives to late to apply for the visa and returns before you can pick-up your passport.

Air Asia and Nok Air have a fly/ride service to Mukdahan via Nakhon Phanom and Sakon Nakhon.

You can get buses from Bangkok to Mukdahan.

You can info about visa runs to Savannakhet. here. Latest Reports Of Getting A Visa In The Region

After your first 60 + 30 days you will need to make a border run to use the 2nd entry of the visa. Just be sure you do it on or before the enter before date that will be on your visa.
