JohnnyBKK
Hello, I got deported last year so i couldn't pay the bills for internet and my phone, do you think i risk to get arrested if i go to Thailand again ? I read about those 2 guys who didn't pay a restaurant bill. How can i check if i'm "wanted" in Thailand from abroad ? Thanks for the answers. ubonjoe
Were you blacklisted when you were deported? What was the reason for it? You will probably not have a problem entering the country for the unpaid bills. This company can check your status for a fee of 2 or 3k baht. http://www.thaivisaservice.com
jacksam
Well maybe if you had paid the bills after you were deported and back on your feet, you wouldn't have anything to worry about. Sounds like you opted to let it slide. Having said that, the case you are referring to seems unusual. That restaurant owner might have connections. Perhaps paid the money owing then enter. In the main because you owe it.
JohnnyBKK
Can't pay the bills if i'm not in the country, i pay them at 7/11 and you need the bills to pay them. Reason was "came to work and has no money" when i tried to enter from Hong Kong, i was denied entry and deported. First of all i didn't come to work and i have more than enough money, but i came with an ED Visa and it was the ED Visa crackdown.

Popular Post ubonjoe
Being denied entry is not being deported. You have to of entered the country to be deported. You probably will not have a problem entering the country but you should be prepared to be questioned about the denial of entry. The bills should not be a problem. The phone/internet company would have to file paperwork and then the police would have to issue an arrest warrant. Normally it is not worth the effort for them to do it.

Didn't think about scanning the bills to me (or someone of your choice), putting funds in my account and then I stroll to 7/11 to pay ???
jacksam
OP, it's almost certain that you won't have a problem. Think why myself and few others are having a dip at you is that excuse is pretty lame. Surely there is someone here that you could of sent money to and cleared it up. Only now with recent father/son arrest do you seem to be worried. Point is when your back, only you can answer if you bother taking care of lose ends by paying your bills Edited September 17, 2015 by jacksam
Pib
You can probably enter the country without problem assuming you meet basic entry requirements, but saying you couldn't pay the bills because you were not in the country is laughable. You didn't pay your bills because you really didn't want to....thought you wouldn't be coming back to Thailand...thought it wouldn't ever be an issue...didn't put any real effort into it.
JohnnyBKK
Because i pay them at 7/11, you need to have the bill to pay it, they refuse any other way. I already tried. I remember when i was not receiving the bills they refused to take my payment until i could present the bill to them. I had to go there in person to ask for a reissue of the bill and it took them 2 month to do it. I don't care about a few thousands baht, but it's not easy to pay bills without the bills. I got deported, the officer told me i'm being deported and i was in a cell. In my stop to Dubai in my way back i was also in a cell and escorted by officers who gave me back my passport only in my country. They insisted telling me i was working in Thailand i said no till the end because i wasn't working in Thailand.
ubonjoe
I get my sat TV, internet and phone bills by email and pay them using online banking. Perhaps their are some companies that don't do them by email so I will not comment anymore about it.
Popular Post dddave
I can see how it would be very difficult to pay bills from out of the country...especially when the situation was not anticipated in advance, as was the case with the OP. Chances are he did not pack along his bill copies (would you?) when he departed for his trip to HK. Ever tried to pay a bill without your bill copy in hand? Do you know your 10+ digit account number by heart? Even if one was in Thailand at the time it would be a difficult project, Trying to do the same from outside would be daunting at the very least. Well you're right, in Thailand normally most bills can only be paid if you are physically present in the country. Doesn't sound like you tried hard enough though last time you were here. Or you could perhaps ask someone in the country to pay on your behalf and then you pay them back later. Still, doubtful there would be an issue on entry - your refusal of entry is a far greater issue. You might be refused service by the companies in question in future, but in general, Thai authorities have little ability to enforce non-payment of bills with things like debt collectors and leans on your property or taking possession of belongings etc. doesn't happen here. Those kind of things only happen in more developed countries. On the other hand if you ever deal with loan sharks then all bets are off. They will cut your head off before you can even mutter the words "can I pay you tomorrow?"

GAZZPA
Bit confused, did you actually get deported or just refused entry? Anyway, for the bills I see absolutely no way that the companies are going to chase you for a few thousand baht. However, I would strongly suggest that you go to one of the offices of the providers and pay up what they say you owe. Also I believe debt is a civil offence even in Thialand unless it is proved to be fraudulent.

I think this is easy if one is setup in Thailand with Thai bank and etc. I asked True and AIS if I can setup auto pay with Singapore credit card and was told that it wasn't possible. I would be curious to know if anyone setup some sort of auto-pay with foreign credit card.

There was no way for me to pay the bill. I had to get a friend to go in and pay it. CAT had the best chance of helping me, but as for the other big 3, True, 3BB and TOT - in your dreams. I've never engaged in any work in Thailand.Hi. I experienced the same a year ago when coming back from HK. I believe we chatted before. You had the same stamp as me. I also spent a night in that cell with all the Nigerians. I had to buy a business class ticket back in order to leave the next day. Got my passport back after entering the gate. Anyways, I went home and got a non immigrant O based upon the birth certificate of my daughter. 2 weeks later I managed to enter. I went for one more in Vientaine after that. You got, like me, denied entry but youre probably not blacklisted. I'm on a Thai Elite now and still experience difficulty entering and leaving the country. But when you are really not working you just cant do much more than having a correct visa, cash, and a good explaination. I find it hard to believe they will issue a warrant over unpaid telephone and internet bills. Edited September 17, 2015 by DeeMak9
peterb17
Gosh some people have such complicated lives. What did the OP think? I have a phone and internet service, but of I expect this to be free, I'm not going to pay the companies that provide these services. He informs us he has plenty of money. In a way this is theft- why not pay like everyone else?
