Can't pay the bills if i'm not in the country, i pay them at 7/11 and you need the bills to pay them.

Reason was "came to work and has no money" when i tried to enter from Hong Kong, i was denied entry and deported.

First of all i didn't come to work and i have more than enough money, but i came with an ED Visa and it was the ED Visa crackdown.

I had to buy a business class ticket back in order to leave the next day. Got my passport back after entering the gate. Anyways, I went home and got a non immigrant O based upon the birth certificate of my daughter. 2 weeks later I managed to enter. I went for one more in Vientaine after that.

You got, like me, denied entry but youre probably not blacklisted. I'm on a Thai Elite now and still experience difficulty entering and leaving the country. But when you are really not working you just cant do much more than having a correct visa, cash, and a good explaination.

I find it hard to believe they will issue a warrant over unpaid telephone and internet bills.

You still experience difficulties with the elite visa ? how is that possible ? Normally you have VIP service, no ?

If you have the ability to remember your name and where you lived you simply contact the supplier and they will advise of balance owed and how to pay. Easily done wherever you may be WITHOUT BILLS !

They just ask questions. VIP service doesn't mean they won't talk to you at the immigration booth. When I arrive they escort me to the counter, then wait for me until I got stamped in or out. But I'm sure it'll help backing up the fact that I'm not working in Thailand. I might got unlucky (again) and to be fair I'm always nervous as hell now when in front of an IO.

Like I said, having the correct visa, cash and a good explanation should be enough.

I'm on a Thai Elite PE visa, and I've never been questioned. Would you elaborate on the types of questions they were asking, etc.?

Why you stay Thailand long time? What is your job? Where you come from? Questions like that.

When I left Thailand for the first time on this visa, the system showed I was on overstay. Because I got the visa at Cheang Wattana. I suppose the systems there and at the airport aren't completely connected with each other. But that triggered the IO to dig deeper. All cleared after explaining the situation to a higher ranked immigration woman.

99.9% of the people entering on a PE won't be questioned. But I got refused entry once. Almost completely similar to the OP.

I do understand it is pretty unbelievable that I retired at such a young age (I'm 25 years old now). Also, my visa history is a mess. Many tourists visa's the first year, some visa exempts in between, then an ED visas, followed by a B visa (I was in the process of creating a company but we decided not to go ahead), then again an ED visa until I got denied entry. After that twice a single entry non-o with birth certificate of my daugher and now PE. I got a new , nice and clean passport with the PE visa on the second page. I feel much more comfortable now, but the unsure feelings will probably never disappear.

Back to the OP...as we should. I find it all a bit strange that the OP was singled out for refusal of entry. Very extreme to be escorted all the way back home. How many people entry los on ed visa every day. Maybe thousands. Could be more credible at a border crossing. Esp with current concerns. Has this happened to anyone else?

Perhaps their are some companies that don't do them by email so I will not comment anymore about it.

Only receive bills that way if on some resident form of visa...can't do it easily.

I don't know what this simple concept is so hard for some people to grasp.

You are trying to make this complicated. I travel a lot and regularly pay bills in another country. You just email the company and ask them to email you a copy of the bill and to give the bank details for payment. You then pay the bill by doing an international bank transfer. Takes two minutes.

Example when I have left a country before my final electricity bill has arrived i just email the company and get them to email me a copy. It really isn't rocket science.

That's exactly how I pay my bills. Do you have a problem with that method? I wouldn't do it any other way. No way I'm going to have my bills direct debited from my account or card.... in which you would have to enter the country to pay them.

There is nothing wrong with paying your bills at 7/11...as long as you are not in front of me in the queue

Using ibanking is a good method. I pay all my reoccurring utility bills that way with the exception of my water bill simply because they don't provide reference numbers on the bill. And by ibanking I don't mean direct debit...I mean the bill shows up in my mailbox or inbox, I logon my Bangkok Bank ibanking, and then use the bill reference numbers to pay the bill....sometimes there is a 10 baht charge just like at 7/11...other times no charge. Paying this way also provides a history of payments. You can pay whether in country or out of country...just need internet access to access your ibanking and the bill info.

Assuming that the OP wants to settle the bills....if he is not resourceful enough to figure out how to get them paid without going to 7/11, or indeed without entering the country, then I would submit that this individual probably should not be out in the world unsupervised.

How about you stop wasting your time making useless posts and insulting people and suggest how the OP can pay his bills, not having set up a pre-pay or online pay facility. I'd also be very interested in knowing how to do it. My CAT manager couldn't offer me any suggestions when I tried to find a method late last year... (and I'm quite ok being unsupervised here in Thailand.)

Well you're right, in Thailand normally most bills can only be paid if you are physically present in the country.

Doesn't sound like you tried hard enough though last time you were here. Or you could perhaps ask someone in the country to pay on your behalf and then you pay them back later.

Still, doubtful there would be an issue on entry - your refusal of entry is a far greater issue.

You might be refused service by the companies in question in future, but in general, Thai authorities have little ability to enforce non-payment of bills with things like debt collectors and leans on your property or taking possession of belongings etc. doesn't happen here. Those kind of things only happen in more developed countries.

On the other hand if you ever deal with loan sharks then all bets are off. They will cut your head off before you can even mutter the words "can I pay you tomorrow?"

Nonsense, official debt collecting happens here all the time.

It happens, I just heard about it on the radio the other day but it's fairly new and depends on the circumstances and amount of money involved. But the laws and level of enforcement are not nearly as effective as in our more developed western countries.

Not that I'm saying you can just avoid paying the bills....but just as an example....what happens if you can't make your car payments? Well sure, the bank can repossess your vehicle. BUT does Thailand have a repo service? Hmmm....all I've ever heard was if you can't make your payments you will be blacklisted from borrowing any more money, but the ability of the authorities to forcefully repossess your property is much more limited than in the west.
