September 18, 201510 yr The kid had choices................he made the wrong choice!aAh here's a man and his followers that's never stepped a foot wrong in life, sainthood is not far away for you Dumb statement. When a person has time to consider whether he should try a substance, unknown origin and content, and he then does so, he has a serious problem with intellect, maturity, or both. We all make mistakes, but it is not a mistake when a considered decision is made to take a substance about which the user know nothing. It is a dumb decision and the consequences show that.
September 18, 201510 yr Not a question of never being wrong, it's laying the blame at the correct place. Too many people expect everyone else to be responsible for their safety, and too many laws encouraging stupidity like that in the west. Breeding a generation of stupid people that don't have to make choices in the nanny states. Ah here's a man and his followers that's never stepped a foot wrong in life, sainthood is not far away for you At least in LOS one's safety is up to one's self and not everyone else. Anarchy. If you are saying that Thailand is in the grips of anarchy, you have obviously never been there. Do not question my presence or my time in Thailand, not to mention my experience in Thailand, society, culture, civilisation. Presume nothing, recognize my posts only. The word 'anarchy' applies to the attitude expressed in the post, not to Thailand or to any country in particular, although the family involved is in Australia and the deadly chemical is traced to the CCP China.

It has little or nothing to do with cognitive impairment at the time of consuming the substance, it is purely & simply a part of being young and taking risks, it's quite normal, especially in the adolescent males of most if not all cultures.(risk taking, not drug taking) The issue with illicit drugs is as has been said time and time again in this thread, is that the quality and efficacy is dubious due to the clandestine nature of its origins. The case for prohibition is extremely flawed and in a perfect world where we learn from the mistakes of the past, things might be a little different. Unfortunately recreational drugs will never gain the universal acceptance of alcohol and tobacco, the moralists have made there case & blocked any avenues for a logical and sensible alternative. That being, controlled manufacturing and distribution of recreational substances and treating the victims of substance addiction treated as medical cases and not criminals. This kid did what literally hundreds of thousands of kids do globally each year, and still the death toll is nowhere near that of alcohol and tobacco.
September 25, 201510 yr He is the 60 minutes episode showing the story http://www.9jumpin.com.au/show/60minutes/stories/2015/september/undercover-in-china/ I watched the Video ,it states the young guy jumped off the balcony. It seemed it had the same trate as YABBA makes them think they can Fly , Lots of Yabba addicts have jumped from heights,
September 25, 201510 yr How many more cases of death from these synthetic highs etc do the kids need to see before they realise that the old adage "Just say no" is still valid. Unfortunately there are always those who need to burn them selves on a kettle to learn not to touch it. Sometimes you just can't fix stupid. It's obvious that "just say no" does not work. Never has & never will. One of the characteristics of being young, is being wreckless and in particular in young males there exists a sense of immortality, not in all, but in the majority. Just say no, is a slogan that was devised by a senile old woman who thought people would listen to her. It was & is an epic fail. Recreational drug use will never go away, prohibition does not work. Legalisation, education and controlled distribution of drugs in the same way as is the case with tobacco and alcohol is the only way to deal with this matter. It worked for me. Only the weak take drugs.

Now that is a typical comment by someone who sees themselves as morally superior to those who willingly take risks. With little or no understanding of human nature, Just because it worked for you, it doesn't mean that it will work for everyone, matter of fact the statistics prove that "just say no failed." I could say something along the lines of "only the weak believe in gods." it would be an equally shallow, meaningless statement as the waste of bandwidth and time that went into your reply.

IMO any educated person that will take an illegal, unregistered drug from a dealer that could be selling anything, and probably has added substances that may be harmful, is either foolish or stupid. Everybody goes through a foolish period when young, but if one does take illegal drugs and it goes pear shaped, one can't blame anyone else for the consequences.

Especially the mention of doing foolish things when young. As that was the crux of the point I was making.
