The Phuket News

PHUKET: -- A body found floating in Patong Bay yesterday afternoon (September 27) is believed to belong to a man reported missing on Friday, police said.

Prayad Janmee, 50, of Phetchabun was reported missing on Friday, reportedly swept away to sea by large waves when he was fishing by himself off rocks near Laem Son cape, couth of Kamala and north of Kalim. (story here.)

Kathu Police were notified at 3.30pm yesterday by Patong Beach Guards who found a body of a man floating in the middle of Patong Bay.

"Based on the description, we believe the body is that of Mr Prayad, but are still investigating and will wait for relatives to make a positive identification," said investigating officer, Pol Major Tirasak Bunsaeng of Kathu Police Station.

It was initially reported that Mr Prayad was a Phuket man, but police have confirmed that the missing man's house registration is in Phetchabun.
