Death Protocol

Featured Replies

Does anyone know what the protocol is in CM when a foreigner dies? A friend died and some would like to have a memorial but we cannot get any info from anyone. Last we heard he was at the hospital.

Sorry to hear......a few months back a Dutch friend of mine died. He was married to a Thai woman and wished a Buddhist ceremony. So ...that's what he got (creamation)

As to your friend....I believe the routine is to contact his Embassy who will contact his next closet relative (not an expert but thats what was done for my friend) ...Its for them to decide what to do.

But as for you and his friends..... if you have a picture of him....you can always have it blown up and put on display (with some flowers) at your local hangout while you and your buddies have a few drinks to wish him well on his journey to where ever

Sorry for the loss of your friend. Protocol would be for his next of kin to organize what if any services are to be held. If there is no next of kin but he had a will naming an executor, then it would be up to that person to make the arrangements. If there is no next of kin and no executor, then it would be up to the embassy of the country he is from to dispose of the body. If that were to be the case, his body would be cremated with out ceremony.

In order to help you more, I would need more information, was he married, does he have any family here or overseas, is there a will things like that?
